    FYI

James Island to North Charleston isn’t really a commute. Be a man and buy a truck and make it badass with big tires and a lift. Buy and build guns. Be American.

Sheeeet, my commute is 210miles round trip. My Tacoma isn’t the best on fuel but it’s paid off. Almost hit a coyote on my way to work today.

I have an axle from an 84 I’ll sell.... that helps eliminate the IFS problem, you’re gonna change the springs anyway

Not to mention it's like 5" narrower than a 2nd gen.

The old yota solid axles aren't immune from their own issues. Just wait till you gotta rebuild those birfields :boink:

He was jonesing for a 1st gen Runner, this was a solution to allow him to rid newer 1st and 2nd gen of IFS, hubs slide right on the solid axle spindles, needs some brake accommodations that are better than they used to be.
thats 3” to match the IFS a rear axle that is also 3” wider than the solid axle rear. (1.5” outside spring perch, and larger rear brakes)
IFS trucks already have the correct steering box to do crossover steering, up to ‘95 on Runners, ‘94 on trucks.
Birfields can be replaced by spicer joint and axles, having the knuckle balls also allows to build a hybrid axle using an aftermarket fabbed housing. Can make it left or right drop at that point.
Early 8” high pinion e-locker (Fj-80) with 5.29 gear (also available, new gears, chunk never installed)

Lots of options, all with a price. (Not just my junk)

All that's kinda like me saying lets go get a 14b out the junk yard slap some dodge/chevy KP inner Cs on it and then run a special knuckle to use the 450/550 Unit bearings and make a steer axle either front or rear......

What you just said took all the "simplicity" out of doing a SAS.

you should know, there is NOTHING simple about doing mods, cost of parts vs time and availability, the snow ball effect happens with any modification. Chose your route.
The above was how it was done years ago with parts available at the time. Sure, there are better. Parts, availability ? I dunno.
I offered what I have, I’m not a professional web wheeler, just have a bunch of junk from a former life.

That's why simplicity was written in quotes.
