Good morning everyone!!! Happy Mothers Day to all of you mothers out there....and to the moms, too. :D

My brother-in-law came up yesterday afternoon and we spent a few hours sighting in two rifles and putting some lead downrange with them and several pistols. Aroma therapy to the max...and another reason I love living here with lots of room to shoot.

Quiet day here, I think. No big plans. We have a light frost on the ground and highs in the upper 40s...plus more rain late afternoon and overnight. Ugh.

It's better than finding a 4-strand electrical wire. We are having a sidewalk put in for my mother-in-law that goes from the end of the ramp from the house to the driveway - 30 ft. Right now there is a pad but then it transitions to slate random pavers that have shifted and been overgrown. Not good for her walker. The guy doing the work started using the excavator to dig out the walkway and almost immediately snagged a wire in conduit.....6" underground. It didn't snap but I have no clue what it's for. One end heads across the back yard towards where there was an old chicken coop many years ago that had a light....but why 4 strand? I traced it back and found it stapled up under the crawl space under a bathroom that was added in the 60's. Then it goes into the basement and is stapled to the floor beams (yes, old beams since the house dates back to the late 1800s) diagonally across the house where it goes into the header and disappears, never to be seen again. And, it never goes into or out of any electrical box. I put a tester on it and it has no power running through it....but what the heck???

Have a great day and be safe!!!

    Morning sir Mark.
    4 strand?
That stuff is usually used for motors and such I thought.
I suppose you could do the three stooges and just start yanking..

Mother’s Day stuff on the agenda today.
Going to try and get another root out later this afternoon.
Promised Carol her outdoor plants so need to pick away at them.
    Way behind on outdoor stuff.
I’m usually done by now and everything mulched.
    Weather is not cooperating..

We were thinking perhaps a well, but the well for the house is nowhere near the line - the house was built with the northwest corner sitting over an artesian well that has had a pump added. The line travels from the southwest part of the yard diagonally under through the basement from SW to NE so it is nowhere near the well. Really strange.

    Good "Mothers Day" Morning folks.
Hope all of the Mom's have a great day and get to enjoy time with the family.
Weather has really been screwy this spring. Makes it difficult with what to wear.
I like the motion activated sprinkler Kurt. Can you save some footage and post here? I am sure we would love to see the feline's response. Happy hunting...

Have a great day folks and enjoy the day the wife or Mom. Be safe.

    Morning all:
Happy mothers day, guess we are still allowed to use the word mothers!

Same here Mike, started to get ahead on the spring to do list, then the weather went to crap and now I'm way behind.

    Root #2

    about 8” thick.
No way I could get the whole thing out.
So I split the root in half and cut the ends to stop feeding the tree.
So now I have about 4” of surface area now to grow grass instead of roots lol

2 days into wearing the hearing aid and so far so good. Son was amazed I could answer the phone by tapping my ear twice. I also streamed a few Youtube videos from the phone yesterday. We managed to plant along the front shrub line yesterday with some begonias.

Happy Mothers day to all your wives and Susan. I hope everyone is doing something special. I am making blurberry pancakes with sussage and bacon on the Blackstone this morning. After I finish my :pccoffee:

I appreciate you guys having this conversation so I can "listen in". My wife and I have been talking about getting a hearing test... because we know our hearing is changing. Diligent procrastination... :)

It's amazing with the hearing aids, you can listen to YouTube videos on your phone and not disturb anyone around you. The best is being able to answer your phone without taking it out of your pocket or holster which makes it totally hands free . Only problem I have is if I hand my phone to the wife to talk, I have to take the blue tooth off or put it on speaker. And sometimes I forget to reconnect it until I get a call. Otherwise, you'll enjoy being able to hear more of what is going on. Front garden looks good Tom. As I have said in the past, I don't have a green thumb and the only thing I grow well is weeds. Have a good Mothers Day with the family.

:rofl:Great Kurt. Thanks for posting. Maybe they will learn to stay away.

Good Morning Cool Old Dudes and Susan

Depart Monkey Moutain today :( ... oh well, nice part about adding a day of leave to a 3 day break is it makes for a 3 day work week following.
See what kind of shape the trail is in. :fingerscrossed:

4 piglets still wiggling, always worry the sow will lay on one.
Brought in Dozer borrowed from a friend lives out near trailhead. Folks out here share equipment with each other to get stuff accomplished. Cleared and moved some stuff Danny has been wanting to get done. Was going to root rake cleared areas of the pasture for planting, but broke an eye mount on rake, so rake had to be carried out for repair.
Changed out all fluids on Ranger Crew and diagnosed noise noticed on ride in. After I removed skid plate and 10 pounds or so of dirt caked under it, found the mid-point carrier bearing blown apart...more parts needed. Something always needing work out here, but it keeps us outta trouble. ;)
Also moved about 15 raspberry bushes from perimeter of orchard to new spot down by creek.
    Productive time this trip. :)

Back on shift tonight. Pick-up Stitch tomorrow. Get back to town early enough today to make a small fuss over Mother's Day for Kristi. ;)

Be safe, healthy, and happy all.

    Respect :oldglory: GBA

I've been wearing hearing aids for 10 years or a bit more (since my late 50s) and I swear by them. Originally got them because I could not hear clearly with multiple talking across a table at work or lunch. Also, my wife was tired of my "What!?!?" anytime she tried to talk to me. Much better now. I just upgraded to the Phonak Paradise P70 and I love the bluetooth. I listen to books when I go for walks and the like. It's also fun answering the phone by tapping my ear a couple of times as mentioned. After wearing them so long, I completely forget I have them in. The exception this past year is the behind the ear mask which snags the hearing aids when I take the mask off if I'm not careful. All-in-all, hearing is a good thing.

Didn’t go as well today. I had to break out the strap. Didn’t want to. But it’s done.

    Root ball out of control.
    Had to shave it.
Don’t look like much but 4 hours of work.
If not for the piping in the general area I would have gotten my buddy down with his backhoe.

I like to use the back part of the trailer as a scraper. Does a good job to level the area.
