Do you ever have to spend time around an idling vehicle without cats? It sucks. Cats are good. Sorry for the minor inconvenience of clean air.

Dude - chill - all we said is it is FUCKING ILLEGAL. Do what you want. It will not improve performance, it will decrease environmental conditions, and it is ILLEGAL.

I drilled out the OE cat on my Grand National 30+ years ago in my buddies driveway. Only thought I would get in trouble when a piece of the busted out cat hit a neighbor kid who rode his bike behind the exhaust while I revved the motor to expell the catalyst. Ive since replaced it when I redid the exhaust with a Pitbull system and electronic cutout after the downpipe when I want to be obnoxious.

Well i don't think he's stupid, he did ask for opinions from just those who have done this. It's just confusing why he wants it done but you have to expect lots of opinions on an opinion forum though :)

Funny, I don't see this kind of legal pearl clutching in the threads about illegal headlight modifications, pictures of lifted trucks with fog lights, threads about wheel spacers pushing tires outside fenders, or remember any of this Captain Planet attitude when catless exhaust manifolds were being sold.

Don't know how old you are but I remember driving down a hill and looking out at all the patches of fog... only it wasn't fog, they were busy intersections and the fog was tailpipe emissions from vehicles idling waiting on the light to turn green. I can remember in big cities they were constantly warned of air quality emergencies. Seriously, it was bad and things got cleaned up a lot, mainly by my generation.
I am the furthest thing from a environmentalist... Hell, I design machines that harvest trees and make big scars in the earth.
All those other things you wrote are regional laws at best but the air thing... don't fuck with it. Air pollution made a lot of people sick and even killed a lot of people and cars were a huge part of it. I will gladly take a few less hp to keep the air clean.

I remember those days. Especially the trucks with diesels and no pollution controls whatsoever. Just pure carbon cloud trails down the road.

The only thing I mentioned not Federally regulated are the tires. The government is just as strict about lighting and they enforce it at what seems to be a similar rate as emissions. One guy hacking off 2 of his 4 cats is going to have less of an impact on those around him than someone flinging rocks from their 35s sticking 2 inches outside their fenders and presents less of a danger than the guy with his 3 inch lift and poorly aimed non SAE foglights and HID conversion blinding everyone they see.

Many of the modifications we do skirt, if not outright disregard, laws and regulations. To all of a sudden pretend this place is some kind of sanctuary for virtuous legal modifications only is laughable.

I don't think the guy should do it if for no other reason than the drone isn't worth the lack of performance gain. He already knows it's illegal and that didn't stop him. A bunch of Tacoma Hausfraus berating him about it isn't going to change that either.

Humans are just tribal apes that love dogpiling. A lot of the shit we do doesn't make sense. Just gotta brush it off and keep moving. My rear cats are removed but I recycle my beer cans ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Lights and rocks aren't going to give anyone lung issues but alright. I'll give you the tires thing as no one here seems to give a shit and it's all -38 offset SCS Ray 10s with stock fenders.

There's literal hundreds of pages of people getting shouted down for blinding HID conversions and cheap Amazon LED bulbs so I don't know what you're getting at there. You can't even utter the words "Xenon Depot" without the specter of @crashnburn80 and his legions banging down your door to tell you about how you should just run Halogen H9s. Not that I'm complaining, LED bulb swaps are stupid and the data bears that out.
