He probably used it to season his steak that evening.

/Chemistry pedantic ass. There are some nasty compounds those two elements are involved with, but NaCl is not one of them. Unless you're a Tacoma frame. :D

But yeah, I get what you're saying otherwise.

Funny thing is I'm just 50 so this was in the 80's and 90's. Not long ago in my eyes.

In contrast, we knew brothers that blew shit up all the time at their house. They enlisted and ended up working with explosive ordinance. If only I had the parental support for that career track!

I was the same. Trying to figure out how to make shit 'splode. Though I was a pure terror the day I discovered what a screwdriver did. The VCR, most of the phones, answering machine, and every doorknob was in pieces, and it was a mad scramble to put it all back together as soon as I heard dad's car come up the drive. Getting a righteous shock from touching the wrong part of the TV cured most of that.

Same. My parents didn't wanna buy me RC cars/electronics cause they knew it'd be torn apart the next day.

That's how I learned to work on my own stuff. Between RC cars and keeping the family 3 wheelers, snowmobiles, waverunners and boat running I already knew how to fix shit by the time I could drive.

That reminds me of when I was 6 er 7, I poured sand and dirt into the crankcase of our three wheeler in the backyard. That didn't go over well.

I sank my neighbor's wave runner in the middle of the lake. He just launched it that morning and offered to let me take it out for an hour while he waited on his girlfriend to get ready. I managed to flag down a tow before it went completely under, but by the time we got back to the marina he was understandably worried that I showed up on someone's boat and his runner was nowhere to be seen. I pulled on the ski rope until you could make out the handlebars just below the surface. That was a quick lesson on how to piss off your parents and the entire neighborhood in one swift move.

Fucking millenials trying to call us Gen Xers boomers. We were the original latch key kids who got our shit done without complaining and brought the world the majority of the innovation they're seeing, without the need for participation trophies.....

You guys invented the VCR and tube socks. Big deal! Then didn't teach your kids anything but how to roll a joint. GTFOH.

I got one for running a 10k once. It sat on my shelf for a week before it eventually made its way to the landfill.

    Life metaphor.
