Neither can I. I don't care how good the drainage is. How good the waterproofing is. How good the compacting it. Having dirt against a wood framing member is the holy grail of don't do it's. lol

I think its standard practice to put a drainage mat against the foundation prior to backfilling but still , ah no

Laundry room done- before and after. The other pic is during. All those things are 2” staples with hardboard under them... that was fun. Have about 300sqft of that tile (with staples) to pull up next week when I go from 3 different engineered hardwood and tile to all one type of hardwood... happy wife happy truck

looks like there was hardibacker nailed down over the lino or maybe not

It looked like those thinset dots were nail heads at first but not sure now

They stapled cement or hardboard to the linoleum and tiled over that.

Yup lol. I'd never heard of it before but I'm getting a CAD and drafting certificate and the Prof for my Revit class actually built one in the 80's in Michigan.

Interesting idea but seems like there's way too much that can go horribly sideways in practice.

I like that even though we are going away from the dark. Our LVP order arrives at the discount flooring place this week. I should take my before pictures, but the stench of the nasty carpet would melt my camera.:D:p

Mounted my new tv on the wall along with running the wires behind the wall. 4 HDMI cords, NES RF switch, and my ethernet cord. Looks nice and clean and everything works great. Had to get a RCA to HDMI converter to work with my Nintendo 64 since my new tv doesn't have RCA hook ups, works great surprisingly.
Working on getting a new XBOX so when i get that ill just install that and should be done in the meantime. I may put in wall speakers but maybe in a couple months. Not sure what I wanna do.

Back before I knew better, I had a "tile" person come in and do my laundry room. They did the exact same thing, stapled 1/4" hardy backer over the linoleum. It looked good for about a year, then the grout started cracking and coming out. The crap job they did was the beginning of my personal trip into DIY tiling. Figured I could do as good or better than they did. That was 10 years ago and my first job, home office, is as good as the day it was done.
