After standing up for DA with the tent shipping fiasco I’m just done with them now. Won’t do business with them ever again. My tent will be for sale once it comes. They’ve left a bad taste in my mouth and I don’t want their branding on my truck. This is the first email I sent when I received half of my ditch light kit:

I just received Amazon packages containing the ditch light brackets and wiring harness I ordered from you guys. I was a little confused as I didn’t order anything on Amazon. I’m pretty pissed off and turned off to doing business with you guys when this is what’s happening. I clicked on the QR Code in the packages. The ditch light brackets you charged me $55 for are only $33 I could’ve gotten myself on Amazon and the $25 you charged me for the wiring harness, is actually $9.99 on Amazon. And I wouldn’t of had to pay for shipping! And it’s not even the same harness and switch in the picture you are advertising on your website. Saying I’m pissed off would be an understatement. I was under the impression you guys made great, quality product. If I wanted some made in china rip off items, I would of saved $30 myself and ordered on Amazon. I feel like a fool and I was taken advantage of. If my tent I have been waiting for 3 months for could be canceled without a 20% return fee, I would be cancelling. I’m super disappointed in the company. And I’m still waiting on the actual ditch lights I was told were in stock but the shopping label was printed on Wednesday but no updates after that…

Then I had to return the harness to Amazon for less than I bought it for to try a different one with the CaliRaised OEM switch. Once that was all good, once car wash later, I already have rust on the hardware so now I have to go find the right stainless steel hardware. You’d think you’d put stainless steel hardware on a part that goes on the outside of the vehicle? I’m just done. They just come across as a brand that takes cheap parts and puts their name on them and doesn’t want to do the hard work.

 

That sucks.

 

sorry to hear you’re having issues like this. To be honest it’s pretty obvious that their products are all rebranded Chinese products. One look at those lights and it’s pretty obvious. If the lights work then the hardware is a very easy fix with a home depot run although I agree you shouldn’t have to deal with that. It’s common knowledge that most of this aftermarket stuff is Chinese made coming out of the same factories that make them with some minor tweaks the customer (in this case DA) gets a say in. The main reason I ordered the DA Warrior XL is because it looks to be the shortest overall length for a 4 person hardshell tent and it had the shortest wait time. I saved $1k on the tent for a form factor that fits and knew that I’m getting a tent from a Chinese factory. You get what you pay for. Always.

 

Yea I definitely learned the you get what you pay for lesson with this one. Should’ve spent more and just gotten the Baja Designs.

In which his complaint above was discussed.
This gentleman offered a refund for his lights (which clearly say on the website the hardware is satin nickel) minus the cost of shipping. The harness to the lights was also brought up as an issue, but turns out it wouldn’t work after it was customer modified. Not only do I have BD lights and Rigid lights, I have DA lights. All of them have some rust on them. Either on the little screws on the face plate or the mounting screws because I changed them.

The base style ultra4 lights are not the Ultra X lights that have the.. minor tweaks.. that was suggested above. Better LED’s. CNC design, stainless etc.

Reaching out to the company is always a great first step.
But after you don’t get the answer you want, you threatened to post on TW to “give a heads up and a warning” as you said is kinda low.
For future reference, please read all the details on all products sold by sellers so that you understand the product you’re getting. The website has not been adjusted or edited. DA is very transparent with their products and issues. To further that, I am 100% transparent with ANY and ALL issues I find with the products, as I want you folks here on TW to get a quality product.

I just want to say this seems like a very “first world problem” complaint. Does the light work? Do you have it wired up? Sometimes these things are trial and error. Personally, I’m dreading to install a switch pro and I have so many switches in spots that I’m not looking forward to moving and fixing/ changing my wiring.
For what it’s worth, refund was offered. Not taken as I understand. Companies can only do so much.

And they offered a refund and that’s fine and everything but it’s the way they were super passive and talking down and did not give a shit at all that the customer was not satisfied. Also the rust isn’t even the biggest deal. I like how you completely ignore the fact that their business model is literally just drop ship stuff from Amazon. Doesn’t even have their product name on it. Probably a pretty stupid business model to not even hide the fact that you’re charging $25 for a $9.99 wiring harness I could get myself. Some companies just want the easy way out to make money. Again, my tent will be for sale whenever it gets here. Maybe by 2023.

 

Don’t need any attention. Get plenty of that in real life. Just wanna product to work correctly and not rust since it’s outside of the vehicle product. Thanks for your two cents though that no one asked for

 

Another funny issue was before I even received the product, I already had an email sent to me asking me to review the product. So those emails will be auto sent out so quick but we can't even hardly get the weekly update tent emails like we were promised?! I go on to give an honest review of how I felt the product was and it said the review was pending approval. So DA doesn't even want honest feedback on their website. They want to filter it to make it look like everyone is happy when they aren't. Another shady business practice.

 

Those are auto sent out when shipping gets added. I’ve gotten them before I even got my products too. Something with the e commerce website.

 

Yea I know. It was auto sent out when the shipping label was printed the week before the product was actually sent out. The email was funny because it sounded like I had already received the product like normally you would when you purchase something.

 

I like how you pick and choose what to reply to add my messages. You’re only replying to what you feel you have a rebuttal against. But I’d like you, I’ll address everything you said about me so here we go.

1.) you tell me your personal lights all have rust on them. So just because you are OK with it, and that’s your personal opinion, everyone else should be OK with it? When people purchase something, they are allowed to have standards for what they are purchasing.

2.) you against state your personal opinion which you have no business doing being the business when you say me coming on TW was “kinda low”. That’s your opinion that doesn’t have anything to do with the stance of the company. If anything, it’s honest of me to come to TW and give my personal experience with the company. Sorry but not all reviews can be five stars.

3.) You said I had a “first world” complaint. Again, your personally opinion that has no place in a business transaction. And yes, it is first world. We are first world country aren’t we? When I buy a product, I expect it to not rust after getting wet one time being outside.

The way you are all passive and can take or leave customers and don’t really care about their opinions tells me everything I need to know about the company. My wife owns a very successful clothing line to where I hardly have to work. She will do everything in her power to make the customer happy, bending over backwards. She knows if she puts some effort out and maybe loses some profit, she has a loyal repeat customer. Apparently that isn’t important to DA and you’re just happy to lose a customer that was going to be a loyal one. I’m all about supporting small brands but not after the way I feel like I was spoken down to and how you were passive aggressive. I should’ve known though once I figured out your business model is to just charge people more than Amazon then just have Amazon products shipped out to them that don’t even have your name on them.

It would’ve been real easy on your end to make this right by me. Yeah obviously I didn’t read the description well enough and you could’ve pointed that out in a kind way. But had you just offered shipping me stainless steel hardware and you lose a couple bucks you would’ve had me truly grateful for you going above and beyond with customer service and I would’ve been telling everyone about it. But I guess for a small company like yourselves, losing a few bucks is more important than keeping a loyal customer and having them spread good news about your business.

 

Fact. I should suggest they edit it.

So… rust.. this a great debate that I have no clue why I’m entertaining.
So on second thoughts. I’m not. Rust happens. But you should check out the AC drain mod if you haven’t. That’s the true rust I’d be worried about.

I’m not worried about 5 star reviews. Those of course are not always going to happen. The real review is the fixing of the issue.

I don’t work for the company. I’m just here sharing sales and trying to get people squared away with their issues. You were offered a solution. You didn’t take it. And then you went on saying “imma post on TW”. So. It’s my due diligence, being my thread and all, to respond to your request. Which I did. And again you’re not happy about the way I addressed the fine folks of TW with my rebuttal. But you’re right. My review of your review is 1 star.

Meh. Try to find lights all hand made in America. I can name 1 brand. And they’re made local to me. Been to their factory. Great people.
I digress, no other lighting company makes all their stuff here in America. So any brand other than that particular brand, you’re just buying stuff made in China, assembled in the US of A.

Again. Not here to argue. You were offered a refund. You didn’t take said refund.
If you don’t want the tent, I’ll pass that on so you don’t even have to deal with it.

Again, throwing your own personal opinion into the mix telling me about what rust YOU personally think I should be worried about. Don’t worry about my truck, only worry about the DA product. Again, terrible business practice. Still haven’t address the fact they are filtering reviews to only have 5 star reviews on the website. That’s called false advertising.

I’m done now. I respect you standing up for a company you believe in. I said what I had to say, and so did you. DA lost what was a loyal customer, and I got a sub par Amazon product for an up charge and maybe a tent that’ll show up sometime this decade out of it.

 

On a less serious note.
Can your wife talk to my wife. I’m envious. That’s the America dream right there.

 

I don’t think DA has all 5 start reviews. That’s for dang sure. Issues arise. People get upset. Part of business. I think they did a good responding to you in the messages I saw.
I’d post them but I don’t really want to start more crap.
