I'd like to lodge a complaint to the management please,:) regarding mods to Tacoma's and indoctrination.
Complaint: On a weekly basis there is something new and exciting to do to Tacoma's and the constant bombardment of these "mods" and "products" has had an adverse effect on my mental well being.
I am now eat, sleep Taco. Not the food but the truck. If this keeps up I'll be sneeking out of the nursing home to go to coffee meets and wheeling trips when I'm 80. Oh I'll make it that long because that's how long it will take at this rate to finish my truck:D
Resolution: Everyone who posts up a mod or product must provide me one, except me because I'm the victim hear.....

    End of complaint:turtleride::

    :wave:good morning.

Hagerty is aware and has photos of my V8 swap, they just didnt care about who did it, when it was done, if emissions controls are there. They asked me what the value is (without appraisal), and is aware that my truck gets used (just not as a commuter). Overall, the best $336/year I could spend (on insurance).

I have Haggerty as well for my 65. Nearly lost it Labour day weekend. The signal relay grounded out to the dash and fried the main harness from one side to the other, thru the fuse block and nearly into the engine bay. If I didn't have an isolation switch on the battery that cuts power to the car, she would have went up in flames for sure.
Haggerty covered 100% of the bill..just over 5k. There isn't a wire in the car that isn't new. Managed to squeek in some LED lights and a new stereo to boot...lol.
I just got my renewal for this year and it's still 369 bucks. Same as the rest tho...no mileage cap, just can't be my DD.

Just got my car insurance renewal for the Tacoma. $1200 for the year, wondering if that’s low middle or high for the pricing.

i was up front with my insurance company about the mods i had done and provided value with backup receipts. i even agreed to a small rate increase for the extra value. fast forward a year and a half later there was no coverage for the mods when i had the total loss last year (and to be clear it had nothing to do with the nature of the accident). the claims dept/underwriter's (Certas) policy is to provide 50% of the value of mods/add ons in the first 6 months after install and nothing after.

i bitched hard enough that i got some consideration but knowing what i know now after gone though it i am not going to bother disclosing my mods unless i can find a new company with a policy such that it makes sense to do so (which i am looking for).

that's not entirely true in Ontario which regulates policies. initially i was concerned when i rolled mine but Ontario regs only call out racing and illegal activity such as impairment as uninsurable. i have a family member that is an adjuster and her insurance company has paid out claims for people driving into trees in the woods, rolling trucks in fields, falling through ice and more. that's not to say they wont dump you as a client immediately, jack your rates or initially try to deny you but they cant necessarily legally deny claims because you were doing something atypical or high risk.

Ahh OK according to OF4WD, snorkels aren't covered in Economical's group program: https://www.of4wd.com/interact/group-insurance-program/

Typically it isn't worthwhile to get comprehensive coverage for all the mods because of the rapid depreciation. After 2-3 years their book value effectively drop to zero (not to say their street value are zero). Go on Toyota's website and use their online Build & Price lease calculator. Add Toyota accessories to the build - the principal increases but the residual value stays the same. The insurance co. could apply even more aggressive depreciation as honkonbobo mentioned.

Found a posting for an 05 Tacoma, 4x4 ACLB MT for 6k. 176,000kms, Had steel bumpers front and back.

Tried to trade him my motorcycle for it, 2 hours after he posted, and it was already sold.

It was gunna be my beater, but the hunt continues..

It's very dependent on group discounts and bundle discounts (house, other vehicle). $1200 is on the low end in my experience. For a single vehicle with no group or bundle discounts, I was getting quotes in the $2500 range in the GTA.

it took me quite a while to find it

 Opps. 212000 km, I think that might be optimistic even for a Tacoma 2120,000 km

We are a stick shift family , my wife drove a 2007 Corolla almost the same as the one that I bought, it went to 456,000 KM, The thing that I’m most impressed with her is that it still had the original clutch.

My daughter has a 2016 corolla six speed manual.

I thought maybe you’d be crushing @Norilsk rate of km accumulation with 400k / year, but that’d be a full time job on its own.

We were a stick shift family until my wife traded in her Focus for a Caravan. I miss that Focus, but only because It was very satisfying bangin’ gears and engine braking in it. I just wish the Taco would keep the throttle plate shut when my foot is off the pedal, get better engine braking and maybe even some pops & crackles.

Then I sold my 22re/W56 4Runner to fund my Auto-magical beast.

Million-mile Toyota trucks exist, but all the seat time tends to be harmful to the driver's waistline:

Yes it was a ceremony where Toyota took back his Tundra for science and gave him a new one.

No word whether he was pissed at the deleted A-pillar grab handle in the new one...
