Looking good! I have the black grille surround on my truck right now. I’ve had it for about two months and it really makes a huge difference but, I still decided to bite the bullet and just ordered a TRD Pro grille, so I’ll probably be selling mine. 9124C71D-A78B-4523-B505-75A244DC3CD4.jpg

Looks good. I like the SR5 grill just not the chrome surround. Kinda wish it came with SR grill looks a lot better.

That’s what I replaced on mine, the chrome surround. I replaced it with the SR black surround, but I will be replacing the whole grille now with the TRD Pro one.

Where did you get your black grille surround? I derped mine black but in this long road trip it’s starting to get destroyed. I might just bite the bullet on a FAUXPRO grille too...

I got mine on Amazon. It’s like $100 or so. I’m going to try to sell mine but I don’t really know how much I can get for it.

When I had a larger truck and it had to park outside I always washed once a week to keep the dirt and sea salt etc off of it. Dress the plastics and all that to reduce fading. Now that I have this smaller truck its in the garage and I barely drive it so once a month wash so far to get the dust off.

Understood, I'm not new to ceramic coating either. I've always had them done professionally. I know well and good the maintenance needed even on a garage queen show car. :) Even a 6 month and up to 2 year coating have multiple layers. Anyway, good on ya' and hope it works out for you! It's your truck so all that matters is you enjoy it, you like it, and you take care of it. Seems like you're doing what's good for you. Cheers!

    Nice!

It’s just ceramic coatings are still kind of new in NA, most people I talk to have no clue, haha! It’s been super popular for a while in Russia and Asia. The coating I got was developed in China.

If you don’t mind me asking, how much did you pay for a couple of layers? Here, it will be minimum of 1500$ without any paint correction. I know some detailers lie and tell you that they put on like 3-4 coats when it’s just one(not saying that’s your case). It’s very time consuming to get it done right.

Honestly I cannot remember. First time I had it done included paint correction and professional clay job done as I had a lot of swirls (black paint). So in conjunction with the paint correction and a 6 month coating, it wasn't cheap. BUT, it was my first time getting it done. I probably stretched that 6 month coating to about a year. Again, this was a garage queen 5.0 Mustang GT that I only took out on weekends. I could throw buff cloth on the hood gently and it would slide right off the other side of the car. I got a 2 year coating done after that first year but went out of town with the car a few times to some shows and it was rough getting it back to that fresh showroom quality sheen. The final year I had the car I got a 1 year coating. Then I sold it and bought my Taco. Less work. lol.

Little of this, little of that.
I sound deadened all 4 doors and back wall of my truck. Next will be the roof and then eventually the floor when I have a bunch of time on my hands lol.

Daaang! I've got the foam but have been putting this off. How many hours do you have in, and (beyond placebo effects) how worthwhile was the effort?

Nothing wrong with a little pride in ownership ...

I am the opposite. I don't really care what the truck looks like on the outside. I wash it once a month. But I detail the inside extensively. I just hate sitting in a dirty truck or car.

I just installed the OEM Tacoma Tailgate lock, my understanding is that it should work with all 3rd gen Tacomas. Install was easy, took me about 45 min- 1 hour that was with getting everything out and cleaning up. Time consuming part was zip tying everything. I ordered mine from BAM wholesale. It was like $129 plus tax that was the best price I found. Everything was plug and play and worked perfect right out of the gate. There was a youtube video that I watched once through to get an idea of how to run everything and there were some good tips in there since it didn't come with instructions. I would go OEM over the poplock all day long. Ive heard mixed reviews on the poplock, some people like them some don't. Overall would 10/10 recommend it. It's nice to have the tailgate lock with the doors, especially since I keep my tonneau cover locked all the time.

I am morei n this camp...my truck is my daily driver AND it is going to get marred, so I don't sweat the outside as much...I mean, I don't AIM for gravel clusters and un trimmed branches...but the "dirt of daily use" is unavoidable, so I don't sweat it

Im pretty OCD, so the inside needs to be clean too. Like you, I hate sitting in a dirty truck, even a layer of dust on the dash bothers me, ha.

Ha! I also think that calling you a "mall crawler" is beyond misguided.

I am OCD on the interior ... and how gives a you know what on the outside ... My current quest is for the the ultimate car vacuum cleaner. The Rigid / Shop vac just doesn't cut it for me ...
