The answer to your question seems like an obvious yes. Maybe I don't understand your question or it wasn't intended to be serious.

Lol - bunch of pricks on TW - and I wouldn't have it any other way!

If you wheel a lot and rock crawl and all that shit often, go for a 16". If your mostly on the road, go 17". That's the 16 vs 17 in a nutshell.

With 17s and 33s I still can get curb rash. If I went 16s, my wheels would be much safer at the mall.

there are many factors at play, and it's a highly debated subject; beyond all the opinions, be certain there is good reason behind toyota's decision to build sports with 17's, while pros and offroads come outfitted with 16's. my personal opinion is when 17's are put on anything besides a fullsize truck or mid-large suv, it's done so for the looks, not the function.

I don't think a taller sidewall is only an advantage off-road. If use your truck to do work or you just like to know you can drive over a curb without damaging your rim, then go for a taller sidewall. It also probably provides additional ride comfort. I think 17" rims are mostly for looks, lateral stability, and (as others said) the greater number of tire options.
