15” wheels are feeling very left out.

I will say I really like my factory 16 inch OR wheels with the 265/75 Duratracs I’m currently running. If someone held a gun to my head and said I could only have 16 or 17 wheels then I’d go 17 just because you have way more tire options.

I went from 16 to 17. Handling improved, but ride quality and off-road ability went down a little due to shorter sidewall. I do like the look of the 17 better, but that’s just me.

Generally, the mass of the wheel is less than the mass of the tire, so for a given outside diameter, the 17” option will be lighter overall, than a 16” tire/wheel with the same outer diameter. This means you have less unsprung weight with the 17” option and less weight overall. This may result in better fuel efficiency, and better performance on bumpy roads.

I like both options, but tend toward 17” for my own uses.

265/75/16 are pretty cool, but anything more diameter than 75's start looking like balloons. (IMHO) I might go to 17s when my 16's wear out and if I can get a reasonable price for my 16" wheels.

This is interesting. I read a thread on here about unsprung weight and centrifugal force and what not. It was instrumental in my decision to get a c rated tire vs the e in the BFG AT. Never mentioned anything about wheel size but this makes sense if the wheel is lighter then the tire in a comparable diameter.

265/75-R16 is as big as you can go stock. That’s a bit bigger but not crazy.

If I may... Does that have a significant impact on overall drive, mpgs, etc....?
Doesnt seem like it on my TW search.

No one has mentioned big brakes. You can install a big brake kit with 17s. You cannot fit them in 16s.

16 vs 17? No... the difference will be negligible for most Tacoma drivers. Serious off roaders will choose more side wall for the purpose of airing down on the trail. You’ll feel the decline in MPG when you add weight... bigger/heavier tires, steel bumpers, sliders, winch, etc. But a mostly stock truck, wheel size won’t have a huge impact.

Not really, I mean, sure your speedo might change but it’s 3.9% so not a big deal.

keep the weight down with a c load and you never notice.
