The speed of that car going around the track is terrifying.

The 919 had the lap record at Spa until Vettel beat it in an F1 car by 0.199 seconds......

FYI the BTCC (British Touring Car Championship) started up last weekend at the Thruxton circuit. Full of great racing, paint swapping & mirror bashing! Also Lewis's brother Nic is in the Rockit Racing team Hard's VW CC in case you didn't know...

Can be watched on ITV iPlayer with a VPN...

The F3 & F2 races are very entertaining. Watched F3 (all three races) and am watching F2 from earlier this year now. Good stuff.

So... DRS... Who is for and against it?

I think there needs to be an adjustment to how it's used. For the mid pack and below it's great because it does add to the fight and allow for more overtaking which is great for us viewers. But, when Lewis caught up to Max, Max simply bent over and took it because there was nothing he could do. I feel that DRS should not be available for the top 3 positions... The caveat to this though is that it may just help Mercedes because RB need all the help they can get.

So maybe just not allow Mercedes to use it

agree. it's helpful hugely in these regs for the midfield, but it's totally awful at the front, undermines the value of the racing quality these guys put out. but i wouldn't know how to adjust the usage exactly.

Remember that early in the race Lewis couldn't pass Max when they were on tires that were similar in age. The only reason Lewis blew by him later was Merc's pit strategy which left Red Bull flat footed. There may be reason's to limit DRS but I don't think this is a good example as to why.

BTW, I'm pro DRS as long as it's implemented correctly. I do understand the frustration with Merc's dominance but processional races including - or even especially - at the front of the pack I find boring. I really don't think Merc would be this powerful w/o Lewis driving. Bottas isn't beating RB as handily, and the non-factory Mercs aren't dominating. Sometimes it's a combination of things and Merc's got it in spades right now.

Bendy aero parts aren't new. I'm surprised they're showing up again though. I guess the FIA was getting lax. The fact that they're giving the teams time to fix their cars pretty much seals the fact that there were cheats.

I don't like DRS the same way I don't like other artificial-seeming stuff like DRS. But without it the race would be a procession after Turn 3 or so. Too much aero disruption. Next year's aero package promises to change that, and if it does it will be fantastic for the spectacle.

Regarding DRS... someone please enlighten me. When driver #2 passes driver #1 using DRS, I literally (like 99% of the time) never see driver #1 re-pass driver #2 by using DRS back against them in the same lap. There are usually multiple DRS zones in a single lap so why can't the driver who was initially passed like just re-use DRS back on them later. Does driver #2 really get such a large time advantage that driver #1 is out of DRS range? Seems like they should just go back and forth trading DRS zones.
