Man I just read over the first page and then 36. I forgot all about the covers being wrong and the exchange thread :rofl::rofl:
That’s just insane. Then seeing people actually get them installed, I decided to get one. She was sold out and so was Tacoma beast. So I decided fuck it I might as well preorder and see how this fiasco plays out. and there has been like 200 pages created since then I guess I’m kinda a glutton for punishment. I just really want a handle

Am I the only one shocked no one else is making these? Seems like demand would be high enough. Then again what do I know.

I had pre-ordered mine in December of 2019, and it was delivered in January.... of 2021. I finally was able to install it a few days ago. Mine had arrived in good shape, and only the clip-nut was incorrect (M6). Now that it's installed it looks like it came there from the factory. It's solid and secure, and it serves its purpose well. I'm glad to have it in my truck.

The excitement could be felt in the community. We were on the cusp of grabbing some much needed feng shui and welcome utility.

200 pages later, it is a flaccid slab of plastic that I barely used twice because I don't want to end up holding it in my hand.

I forgot about that brief, yet exciting chapter of the saga.

In the end, I use the thing and it serves its purpose. I just hate myself for contributing to the disaster of KT “For the Community” JO. If it was a better vendor and any more polished, I’d be telling my buddies to get one for themselves.

I'm sure that Chinese factory will screw KTJO and start making them themselves to sell on Amazon for half the price.

I tend to keep mine quiet but use it nonetheless. If anyone asks about it I relate a shortened version of my tale of woe. People are resilient and will order anyway believing that it won’t happen to them. Human nature I guess.

    Oh man…
I can’t believe no one else has started making these yet! I really want a drivers grab handle...

It really is an enjoyable thread to read through though :D

Ah yes, the initial excitement and then reality. My KTJO flaccid slab of plastic still sits in the box unopened since January.

Probably the best place for it. Archeologists in a millennium or two will stare in wonder at this piece of trash.

@MESO said he wouldn’t go near it, possible liability issues around airbag.

If the stars align just right, you could end up with a nice grab handle. And it could arrive soon after you order it. I was lucky that way, so I can't bad-mouth KTJO too much.

I waited 382 days between pre-order date and delivery date. And then another 16 weeks until I was able to install it. But it came out fine in the end, despite the piss poor communication on KTJO's part.

The important question is how many posts happened in that time?:rofl:

Outside of the terrible customer service and general shit show that is KTJO, have any handles actually failed? I use mine regularly and it feels rock solid.

I can only go back to the OEM and PnP promise. The covers look and fit like crap and bending (yielding) metal for it to fit is 100% bad in my book.

I'm a structures guy, so yielding metal, all too easily, is not good. So, I have only used it twice in the time since I installed it.

That is my personal, single data point view of it.
