    Hey folks,

Heading to Uwharrie next weekend, 14-16 May. First time on the trails, excited to check it out. Could use some advice from those who are on these trails all the time.

I run an all-stock 2nd Gen DCSB OR. Just hung new stock size AT's.

Planning on exploring the following trails only:
    96 Falls Dam
    89 Wolf Den
    89A Slab Pile
    92 Rocky Mountain Loop
    92A Sawmill

I have some fairly low-hanging nerf bars that I'll remove before the trip. Any reason to be concerned about being bare down there along the rocker panels? If I come up on some of the optional rocky terrain on those trails, I'll default to the easy go-arounds when in doubt but will have a buddy to scout and spot. I don't have any plans to obtain sliders, So I just want to make sure I'm good without, on the trails I mentioned.

Also have a bull bar in front, appreciate any input on leaving that on or removing before the trip.

Lastly, any foot trails you guys recommend for great views or anything else that's cool? I'm all ears to any other general advice too.

    Thanks!

Should be fine. There are some spots along RML that get rough and maybe the rock section on FD after leaving thr parking area. Havnt made it up yet this season but from past expierience id say youll be ok.

    When in doubt, come about.

Yep, the hillclimb and 'rock garden' of RML will need some extra eyes, as well as that tiny section of Falls Dam

Thanks fellas. Are these all spots that have go-round "easy" options? I've watched several videos and I've seen how it generally goes, but I can't say I've seen every inch of the routes.

There's a TW member who actually lives on the way from home to the forest, he's selling bolt-on sliders. That's the major reason I'm asking. Seems kind of silly though to buy a set for trails I would hit max 2x per year. The nerfs are there for the wife and kids (and my lazy butt too).

Cant speak for all spots having by passes. I dont really pay attention to them/look for them. Id say theres a good chance for a bypass to be there. But thats a hot subject for some people. The illegal bypasses are the reason why places get shut down.

Id try to stick to the designated trail. If you cant make it without taking an illegal route, go back out the way you came in. Im not gonna be an advocate for an activity that can/will get a local spot shut down.

Air down. 4 low. Be smart and youll have a great time.

Ah, didn’t mean off-trail go-around. Videos I’ve seen, when a more difficult patch comes up it may have three or four ways to tackle and typically it’s choose your adventure as far as level of difficulty.

Thats true. But my level of easy might be different than what you call easy. Dont over think it. Go and have a good time. Youll be alright.

Stock trucks are generally better off not airing down, to keep ground clearance. Unless you have clearance and absolutely need more traction.

How’s the gas situation in vicinity of Uwharrie? Trying to gauge whether my buddy and I should still make the trip out.

Not worried about prices as long as there’s gas...

Yeah it’s a tweener right now. Looking on the gas buddy tracker, there are tons of stations in the area with supply, at least right now...

All the times I tell my wife we should dig out the bugout shelter, and she's like no, too much money, and now I'm like how much could we have saved, FFS.

Maybe not much, but I like to bitch and complain...
