I can’t believe no one else has started making these yet! I really want a drivers grab handle...

It really is an enjoyable thread to read through though :D

Ah yes, the initial excitement and then reality. My KTJO flaccid slab of plastic still sits in the box unopened since January.

Probably the best place for it. Archeologists in a millennium or two will stare in wonder at this piece of trash.

If the stars align just right, you could end up with a nice grab handle. And it could arrive soon after you order it. I was lucky that way, so I can't bad-mouth KTJO too much.

I waited 382 days between pre-order date and delivery date. And then another 16 weeks until I was able to install it. But it came out fine in the end, despite the piss poor communication on KTJO's part.

Outside of the terrible customer service and general shit show that is KTJO, have any handles actually failed? I use mine regularly and it feels rock solid.

I can only go back to the OEM and PnP promise. The covers look and fit like crap and bending (yielding) metal for it to fit is 100% bad in my book.

I'm a structures guy, so yielding metal, all too easily, is not good. So, I have only used it twice in the time since I installed it.

That is my personal, single data point view of it.

There must be significant variation in the positioning of that upper threaded attachment point from the factory. I struggled because I mistakenly thought the lower point (with clipnut) was the troublesome one. So I attached that one first, and then tried to get the upper bolt in. After about a half dozen on/offs of the entire KTJO assembly, I decided to thread the bolt into the upper attachment and bend it away from the windshield just a bit. I hardly bent it at all, then put everything back together while putting the upper bolt in first. The lower bolt then went right in... and wham bam it was a done deal.. 16 months after placing the order. :amen:

I'm not defending KTJO one bit... but now I'm happy and glad to have this in my truck. Thanks to my dog... I need it.

Yielding metal is just that no matter how far it bends afterward.

That issue is solely on KTJO 4x4's shoulders. From all that is known, it was only test fit on one Taco. I feel, can't prove, that if the molds were made for a different bolt angle, all Tacos might have been okay.

I apologize, but I cannot pin the issue on Toyota as the Stock trim fits easily, as evidence by all of the folks who swapped in the tweeter upgrade and fixed the passenger side dash squeak.

What’s up TW so I installed the grab handle on my Tacoma but the quality and fitment is subpar. I think this could have been an excellent product if they would have taken a bit more time to do a few more test fitments on multiple trucks possibly different years of the 3rd gen. I have a bit of a gap between the panel and the weather seals it’s not too obvious but it doesn’t sit flush like Oem. Besides that it is useful for entering and exiting the truck.

I think we can all agree there was no beta testing. It fit her truck and and she assumed it would be good to go for everyone’s truck. Some got lucky, most got f*cked. Along side the cluster that is her “customer service” and it’s astounding how people continue to buy her products.
