Anything welding

At my work we had a "no welding after lunch" rule. Slept better because of it.

 

Speaking of mig like tig. Sometimes I get the groove and my beads are pretty, other times they’re “good enough”.

perfect example is a rocket stove I built for my brother. I doubt he’ll use it but he spends time on YouTube and send me videos: “think you can make this?” It’s his subtle way of supporting my abilities.

 

Here’s an example of when I had the groove just right and was able to lay some pretty good welds on an open corner (upside down no less)

Those welds passed my arm chair hammer test a few minutes ago. LOL Ya did great and they look great too. Rhythm and speed are the secret and comes with torch time. Great job. Now get back to work. LOL

I never thought to use this technique for open corners (pause and move - it kinda reminds me of the whip and pause using 6011) but it sure makes a hell of a lot of sense. I imagine part of it that would be most difficult is once you see it at the height you want, getting the motion to consistently happen the rest of the run is much more difficult. Come to think of it, I haven't done much open corner work, mostly butt joints or closed fillets. Now I want to grab some scrap to give an open corner a go again.

A few weeks ago I mentioned in this thread that I was going to sell my Harley and get a plasma table to be driven by my Primeweld Cut60. Sold the Harley this past weekend... not gonna lie, it was tough. 1982 with 22,000 miles. Ran perfect and was the most comfortable (even w/stock seat) bike of the roughly 20 I've owned.

I'v been over at PlasmaSpider.com (hello @koditten ) reading up and it seems all feedback is great. Several also have it paired with Cut60 and report great results. Only small negative I can find is the 3 month wait to get one.

If anybody who has researched and bought a different model for under $4000, I'd appreciate any input. I plan to order by end of the week.
