I did the same not selling thing with my first option I ever bought. I bought a NOK option for $100 that turned to $800 that same day, but I wanted $1k and lost $100 lol

A lot of competition, spending tons on marketing, stock price got way ahead of itself. Any good profit is probably a couple years away.

 

How in the hell is that a surprise to anyone with even a basic understanding of finance? You'd think the markets would welcome inflation with the insane amount of money the FED has printed this last year. With 2% average being the FEDs target goal it's gonna have to get to 4-5% for a while to actualize that.

real issue is the lack of even distribution...
However the perfect storm of wild fires, shut downs....unemployment...sure has done something to lumber...

 

That's a concern for me since my job relies on lumber being available. The affordable part comes and goes but I've never seen back logs like this in 20 years. Somebody really screwed the pooch on the supply side of that equation.

 

Mostly they just cut production assuming a global pandemic costing everyone their jobs would also decrease the demand for new houses. You know, we were all so broke the government had to give out money, who knew so many were doing well enough to buy new homes

IHT keeps getting halted

 

The lumber industry has operated right at or near production capability for years without making significant investments in the infrastructure necessary to plus up production. For good reason, because the competition was stiff and lots of businesses went by the wayside. So that industry is in particularly bad position to recover quickly from the pandemic. Increasing production when the capability isn’t there is a long lead time, and so sadly prices won’t come back down for a while, unless demand magically reduces.
