We'd have a growing budget surplus in two years, internet would free, have twice the speed, and all the coverage, and gas would be $2.50/gal everywhere, everyday.

Not happening for awhile Bruh. All new shared platforms and EV hybrids coming down the pipe. You know toyota, they gonna R and D the shit out of it before going to market. Look up Fast Lane Truck interview on next gen Yota stuff. Very good info and explanations in the video right from a Toyota former designer and employee.

Next gen Taco must have hybrid platform to stay competitive. Look at all the full size taking the lead on it now. If they don't release a hybrid Taco of some kind in 5 years... that's just bad news.

Why did you hate your 2nd Gen? I have a 13' DCSB Sport and absolutely love it. 160K and going strong, replaced spark plugs at 110K and OEM battery at 7 yrs old. Otherwise routine maintenance.

    That's awesome.

We know the dealers meeting happened a while back and not even a peep on the Tundra. Just amazing when you consider the horrible way other critical launches were handled by other automakers.

They definitely keep a tight lid on what they are releasing until they are ready for it to be out there. Now, whether that is a good thing or a bad thing remains to be seen. It would be disappointing in my eyes to get new colors and the same unaltered platforms across the models. I wouldn't mind seeing some new drivetrain options just for the sake of mixing it up. I can't help but think Toyota needs to step it up in a big way with the TRD line and not just add stickers, badging and embroidered headrests to the pro models... they have to compete with other manufactures who are releasing pretty capable offroad variants into the market, chevy with the bison, ford with the ranger tremor, nissan with whatever pile they are rolling out on the frontier frame next... lot's of options for people. Toyota in my eyes has always been legendary and I understand the "if it aint broke dont fix it" mentality, but it would be nice to see a VERY capable and competitive truck or SUV. I know they are talking about the new tundra and my hope is that it has a higher tow capacity than previous generations. It's a cool truck but being capped under 9k lbs for towing is hurting it. Now, obviously I know 9k is under exaggerated but when you look at the other trucks in that segment most of them have much better tow capacity and better fuel economy.

All that I know is they said they were going to beat the F-150 in features and sales. That is a lot of shit to talk, but it could be fun to watch.

I agree though, the Pros need more distinction, esp for the increased MSRPs.

The 2nd gen just didn’t grab my interest like the 1st and 3rd. I graduated HS and had to have the 1st gen. When the 2nd gen came out it looked too different from the first and I hated the big flares and headlights.

I’m a fan of this idea. The TRD Pro should be a clear cut above the rest of their offerings. A factory lift and super charger would stand out as a “go almost anywhere from the factory” model. Maybe I’m greedy. Maybe that’s a bit much since most of us mod the heck out of our trucks anyway.

I think the ability to 'mod' to your personal needs and tastes is why some of us like the Tacoma experience. Kinda like the AR-15 Platform it's like a
tinker-toy and you can swap this and add that and do the other thing and make it just right for you. Well the AR-15 ain't no toy don't get
me wrong but it is a great fire-arm ... and the Tacoma line is a great lineup of vehicles.

I wondered why anyone would buy and SR instead of the SR5 or TRD lines and then it's like yea that makes sense... get the stripped down
version and dress it up the way you like it. I'm not much into dressing up so I went SR5 and I don't like to get over-dressed so I didn't go TRD.

    Tacoma: Something for everybody.

hmmmm... somebody's car-alarm keeps going off every 15 minutes for a full 10 minutes... wonder if my AR would take care of that LOL
(no no I'm not built for prison life)

Definitely understand the something for everybody concept. But having a model that is way up there in terms of performance would make sense. Ford has all manner of F150, but they also have the Raptor, factory set up and warranty covered. The TRD Pro Tundra for example, no matter how dressed up you make it, will not no be a Raptor. And having a vehicle factory built to handle abuse is a plus for many people. I can bolt $20-30k worth of stuff to my Tacoma and make it very capable, no doubt and able to do much of the same kinds of things that a Raptor will do but its not going to be factory covered and serviceable. I think with RAM rolling our the TRX, Ford with the Raptor, Chevy alluding to the ZRX and Nissan...well we wont go there. But having Toyota build something along those lines would appeal to a lot of people I think especially as loyal as Toyota people tend to be. Everyone loves Raptors because of the off the lot capability and reliability. Toyota could really win a following with something like true TRD PRO model that competes with a Raptor and do something special, but that's just my 2 cents and a pipe dream haha

Halos are important. Both on the car side and the truck side.

I recently went with a JTR, 37's, skids, muds and to be honest was not impressed. Easy to get turtled, departure angle sucked, and it just drove like it was "heavy" if that makes any sense.

This 3rd gen out performed it....could be driver as well:D.

If the Tundra is 3.0TT, I'd love a 2.7L TT. Easy to mod. Hope its not a 4cylinder turbo like the Ranger.

There was a "average guy beta test" driver that added some comments in one of the Utah Toyota pages on FB. Turbo 6 was one of the things he said was true, and that it was plenty.
