Auto Geek - not so great!

Although Auto Geek is a good source for waxes, shampoo, and cleaners, it is NOT A GOOD PLACE TO BUY DURABLE GEAR, such as foam guns, buffers, etc.
Why?
Their warranty is only 30 days from purchase date, which includes the shipping time. Other companies have a much more liberal policy, and in many cases, identical pricing. Most companies that put their name on their products stand behind them, but not AG. They refused to replace the cracked/split plastic pistol of a $70 Foam Gun bc it was purchased over 30 days ago.
Auto Geek may have competitive prices and lots of advice on their website, but it comes at the expense of Customer Service, which is poor to fair at best.

What is the return policy?

Items must be returned within 30 days in like new condition with original packaging. * See exceptions below. To return an item, call us toll free at 1-800-869-3011 to receive a Return Authorization Number and instructions. Write this number on the outside of the package. Products returned without authorization will not be accepted.

All "Free Shipping Offers" will be charged a normal shipping charge before a refund is issued. If the return of a product or products causes the original order to fall below the free shipping threshold the remaining items and returned items will be billed for the normal shipping charges.

The cost of the returned items, minus shipping charges, will be promptly credited via the payment method used. It may take 5-7 days for your bank to process the credit.

I haven't purchased many tools from them other than a Porter Cable, so haven't had need for return. How long have you had their foam gun?

I got that from your first post. The reason I was asking many companies will give some buffer to the 30 days depending upon how long it has been. Just curious if you were way over or a little over.

 

I am a good deal (yrs) over 30-days, but that doesn’t change my feelings. The gun leaked from day-1, which I chalked up to a bad hose washer. Living in the Northeast US, it’s been lightly used - only seasonally. If they wanted to create a quality tool, it would have been fabricated completely out of brass. Anytime you join 2 different materials such as plastic and brass, problems will happen. Bicycle manufacturers learned this the hard way when they started bonding carbon tubes to titanium, steel, or aluminum frame tubes.

 

Years after the 30 day warranty that’s funny!!! There’s a reason they only offer a 30 warranty. That was the first sign you made a purchasing mistake. Griots has an exceptional warranty and they stand behind it.

 

I guess I should replace my Griots G15 buffer that comes with a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer that I bought at AG.

Is Amazon an ok place to buy durable gear? Maybe I should get this one that Griot's clearly stole their design from:

Many years ago I used to buy from Autogeek, but haven't in maybe 3 years. I just think its a lot of marketing and hype (in house brands) . Like you, bought some of their tools and was left a lot to be desired, in durability.
