Because it shines a bright light on behavior that should not be possible and lets everyone know that when the price ticks up shorts are undeniably pinched. Makes it an easy argument to pile on and bust the shorts. I mean at this point it seems nothing will convince you so it's a bit if a waste to argue the points.

 

I’m not arguing. I didn’t know if we are simply relying on more retail to buy, even though we say retail already owns 3x the shares that should be available, or if it somehow causes them to be called to return shares. A question isn’t an argument.
