How much lift? Are you getting vibes at certain speeds? Are they present when you accelerate and decelerate, or just one of those?

Lifted about 2.5 front and 2.5 in the rear with 3 leaf AALs. Happens during deceleration mostly. As speed picks up I get a small vibration off and on. Wasn't there until I lifted the rear. I do notice a small amount of play where where the slip yoke is at. Not sure if it's suppose to be there.

All of that is normal. You can make it a little bit better by doing a carrier bearing spacer or an angled shim under your leaf pack. Some people are able to get it to go away completely, but it's a lot of work testing different shims and angles.

It has to do with the fact that a Ujoint doesn't rotate at a constant speed. Since there are a number of them under there, you'd have to get all of them to be at similar angles to completely eliminate it. The stock suspension is designed to keep them all at a very similar angle making each driveshaft section essentially a really long cardan joint.

Here is the most comprehensive guide for vibes on the site:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/vibration-diagnostics-for-all-tacomas-write-up.520607/

TLDR: varying angles and harmonics make things go brrrrr sometimes

Yeah I got a question up on the 2nd gen forum that didn't go far. One post I had on it showed that a guy used a spacer on the diff side that caused the vibes to go away but it's not something everyone says works. Was debating doing the same thing as it makes sense but was checking to see if anyone else had tried that before I pulled the trigger on it.

Driving a RC I don't have the carrier bearing so can't really do anything there.

Sounds like axle shims are your next best bet.

I agree with @CygnusX191 . An angled axle shim might help. It also might only change when you get vibes. It's worth a try though, they aren't super expensive.

Weird thought, but if it's mostly deceleration it could be brakes, or axle wrap.

Only happens once and a while. Usually I dont drive highway speeds but notice it when I do every now and then. I know some Regular cab guys deal with it but never could find a complete answer. Gonna give the Degree shims a try and see what happens from there.

My truck only does it when I'm doing the AT version of engine braking/ decelerating without the brakes from 60-55mph. That's why I was asking originally. I don't know if RC trucks do a different thing.

Do you think one of us could be getting axle wrap from deceleration? I have the factory overload leaf as well as my AAL if that matters :notsure:

It's possible, if the angles on your axle are funky they likelihood axle wrap on deceleration increases, but I'm no engineer so I couldn't say 100%. If you could mount a go pro under the truck sitting just forward of the carrier bearing you'd be able to get a good shot at both the bearing and the rear axle.

I'm relatively certain mine isn't axle wrap, but now I want to know lol

I'm currently trying to decide on whether or not to try a ball joint replacement or just replace the whole control arm
