I purchased a 2021 Tacoma off-road 4 x 4 two weeks ago. Upon my purchase I have ordered OEM accessories as well to include the OEM TRD Pro Grille, blacked out emblems and tailgate inserts, & electronic lock for the tailgate. Took my truck in yesterday to gave the dealership install everything and was notified they can’t install the grille. Story I was getting went from “it won’t fit” to they didn’t order it. The dealership finally gave me the answer that they can no longer sell just the grill, they have to sell the left package with the grill and sensor so that the sensor will align properly. Picture below is what was quoted for the package + install. My money will go elsewhere.

My dealership does this stuff about only oem parts installed at a big price. Will never help you install anything that is not oem they just flat out turn you down. It was a head scratcher but oh well my money goes elsewhere after I got my free oil changes.

Some dealers will sell them to you if you use a Pro VIN you snagged off Carmax.

I just went with an aftermarket one. I got the one with sensor garnish for like $200 from Toyota Lifestyle. A lift is not required for the grill to work to my knowledge. I never got a lift for my truck and never experienced any error codes. It also took me like 40 minutes to install with a flathead, Philips and a socket.

They are full of shit. Buy aftermarket for a fraction. Buy the way. Why does everybody want there truck to look just like the other guys. Pro grill, blacked out badges etc. That’s a trend I won’t follow. Build how you want but you’ll see your twins EVERYWHERE

Some dealerships are ran by complete morons. When I had my 2016 TRD Sport the parts counter told me the Pro skid plate is not compatible with my truck. It was the complete incompetence such as this as to why I bought my 2020 from another dealership.

That's toyota trying to prevent non pro ppl from buying it. The aftermarket one is much cheaper (with admittedly worse quality).

I know I had heard that if you didnt have a PRO VIN most dealerships won't even sell you anything from the PRO including the lift kits, or any parts standard on a PRO model

I added a pro grille and blackout because I like how it looks (how the OR really should have come stock..). I don't really care if it matches other trucks. If you keep an OR stock you will see a "twin" at every stop light around here anyway.

The hipster trend would be intentionally going out of your way to be different so there is no "twin" truck.
