Anyone want to help me install a lift? I have UCAs, shocks and coils. I unfortunately don't have my own space to work on it :(

This may, or may not help.

I'm driving home(Corpus Christi) first week of June, to collect wife, 2 kids, and a dog.

If you want a set of eyes on ANYTHING down there, etc, let me know.
Driving dow 6/4, and returning 6/8. So, I will have a couple days.. wife and I might meander a bit on the way down. This will
Be the most alone time together since....

Can you buy a cheap beater in the meantime? Then fly out to AZ and snag one when you find the right one?

I get the timeline thing, it’s why I ended up with a C5 instead of a 300ZX TT.

I can help you, but only in a few weeks (sometime in June). We can use a lift where I work, on a weekend. Is the lift for your 4Runner?

Yeah. The front should be just like the Tacoma. The rear should be easier. Hopefully the UCA bolts come out easy.

Oh, nice! Do you know if sheetmetal has to bent to get the UCA bolt out, like on Tacoma's?

Maybe. Looks like you're about 4 hours away from me.

Yeah, but I don't think it has to be bent much.

Do you have to still bend the sheet metal if you cut the bolt.... Would it still need to be bent to put the new one in? Asking for my taco

A lot of people install the new bolts backwards so they're easier to install or remove in the future.

I did read that but the one I saw he had already bent it over with vise grips. Going to try cutting the old and putting new in backwards. Really don't mind either way just putting all my ducks in a row.

You really shouldn't need to cut the old. It's not bad at all getting it in and out. I was prepared to cut the ones on my FJ, and it was really a non-issue with some mild bending.

Yeah, bought the bolts so if it's a pain I have options. And I've got cutting supplies for days. Big fan of the new Milwaukee sawzall blades.

If you do have to cut, don't forget the cutting oil. it'll help prolong the blades at least a little.

Yeah, definitely and heat kills the blades. Cutting oil and taking it slow definitely helps. I rigged up a tile saw dripper to my Milwaukee band saw. Works great depending on angle of dangle. Not that this will fit this application. Hoping for not cutting

    Sumo springs are in!

    upload_2021-5-13_11-44-52.jpg

They sit really close to the axle unloaded so it doesn't take much suspension travel for them to work but it didn't mess with the ride much. It did stiffen it up slightly, mainly just less body roll into corners and a little less floaty over bumps. I'm not sure I would have noticed if I didn't drive the truck for a few days and came back to it with them installed.

The driver's side one is a little close to a wire bundle my comfort - looks like it's for the e-locker, speed sensor, and electronic parking brake the way it splits. I don't think it will be a problem, but I may put a zip tie on that one just to try to keep it another millimeter or so away.

Mine are the same way (I installed them on the front, though). Not quite touching but doesn't really affect the ride. I installed them because with the plow on the nose of the truck the suspension kept bottoming on the sh*tty road to my house. The Sumo's do a great job of stabilizing the ride with the plow on, but of course right after I installed them the town paved the road

I have only two patches on my headliner: Washington DC and Baxter State Park. Two widely different locations that I enjoy. I put these two patches together as a testament to the fact that my Tacoma is equally at home in the woods and the city.
