    Hi all!

Today I installed a lightbar in my truck and it´s not working as I wish it would.
When I push the switch the position lights and the dashboard lights come on. It doesn´t matter if my light switch is in the off position or if the car is turned off.
The light bar also doesn't turn on :(

I have the positive cable connected to a relay on a Bussman RTMR
The other pins on the relay go to ground and towards the switch via a fuse on the RTMR

Inside the cab, I have a switch connected in this manner

    Screen Shot 2021-05-12 at 17.39.21.jpg

Can someone smarter than me please help me solve this?
    Thank you!!

I don’t know what an RTMR is but The green/white cable is not ground it is the illumination return. You are turning on and off your illuminating circuit in parallel with the rheostat. Ground to the chassis.

Where do you have the lightbar connected to, maybe that’s why it’s not turning on.

    Hi!
I thought I needed to connect the ground to that wire so my switch would dim.
The lightbar is connected to an RTMR, which is basically a box that holds more fuses and relays that you can connect to.

no the ground for that switch is shared between both switches and cannot be dimmed when used in that manner.

Looks like he has (1) and (2) on the switch wired right. If the light bar doesn't come on, then he has the RTMR not wired correctly.

    (3) on the switch, connect to the dash light circuit of the truck. (4) on the switch, connect to ground.

What are the colors of the wires on the harness, not the switch?

toyota uses a variable ground so if the switch you are using shares the grounds for the switch led with the hot and it’s not independent, there will be no way to accomplish what you want to do with that setup.

The way I have it wired right not it dims, so I guess I’ll have to sacrifice the dimming function.
And I assume this doesn’t have anything to do with why the lightbar is not turning on, right?
    Thank you!

The ground on the switch is only for the LED (on the switch).

I do not know what an RTMR is but if you hook up red1 wire to a relay coil if it’s positive switched it should work.

the picture shows two LEDs, I’m assuming one turns on when the button is pressed and the other is independent.

so the ground is common for the LEDs. You can have both LEDs dim or neither LEDs dim, but not split them out. If you choose to dim them then the switch LEDs will not turn on unless your parking or headlights are on.

Hmmm - Not seeing the second LED? ----- (3) and (4) ON THE SWITCH is designed to be connected to the Dash Lighting Circuit. I believe it will dim when connected. If there is another LED? The YES, it would be In-line with the switch and not be dimmable.
