Id be curious to know which way you were headed, anyway in short yes you are ok to be driving on the Forest Roads but of course there are exceptions.
No trespassing can mean two things.
- If a forest road bisects private property you are legally allow to be on the forest road just not on the property on either side of the road.
- Forest road turns into a private drive then it becomes the typical no trespassing that we all are familiar with.
Gates, you'll run into them fairly often.
- If the gate is blocking a forest road and does not have any signage or a lock then leave it the way you found it, open or closed.
- If the gate it locked or has signage then I'd back track even if there is a bypass next to the gate that goes around it.

- Pueblo Lands, that is a generally acceptable term but so I'm not sticking my foot in my mouth @FamouzStarz can probably give a better answer.
- If there is a forest or county road that travels through the pueblo you're generally ok but I'd double check to make sure its not a private road, last thing you'd want is to get caught somewhere you aren't supposed to be but of course accidents do happen.
- Same rules with signage from above apply.

I'm think you have the common sense to understand if you should or should not be somewhere considering you are asking for some input so good on you.

Also there is a lot of BLM land in the state too and well that's a different situation there really aren't many rules out there.

 

Its cool area out there. From what I can gather, the road you drove up cuts through the Pueblo land and is a legal road to drive on as it is access into the Santa Fe National Forest. That whole fenced area used to be open and a bit of a party spot since it was far enough out of town. As you keep going out, there is a cow pond further in. You do have to be somewhat careful as some of the roads will circle back into the Pueblo land and then you end up at the fence again. Some of the roads you wouldn't really want to turn around and go back down either.

@90supra Thanks for the info. I remember passing through the lands you're talking about - the fence was on either side and had No Trespassing - San Idlefonso signs on it. We kept going way past that. I saw a marker on Gaia for some springs, is that the cow pond or something completely different?

We'll probably go back and explore more this weekend.

 

That looks like fun; I've never been on those roads in that area, although I've been to Pajarito (the ski area) many times. Thanks for being respectful of the Pueblos.

been meaning to respond but work has me at witts end these days!

Pueblo(s) would be a proper term for the Tribal Nations that are a located along the Rio Grande Valley, of course there a few out west along 40 as well and the hopi tribe in AZ. There are 22 Tribal Nations in New Mexico with 19 of those being Pueblos, Navajo and apache tribes make up the rest.

The Navajo nation is located mainly towards the NW area of NM with a few pockets near Albuquerque and alamo. The Apache tribe is down south next to ruidoso and near cuba (jicarilla).

Even though I am a member of one of the pueblos i respect all other tribes boundaries for land passage, as within in each tribe they have their own land conservation dept and often have tribal game and fish wardens out and about and I'm so no trying to break rules or pay any type of fees haha.

it is true some forestry roads do pass through tribal lands but with that said its just a right-a-way for the road and doesn't grant access on foot, vehicle, or bike to those lands.

New Mexico like most other states was all tribal land at one point however with the federal government and Spanish inquisitions that came through and nearly wiped out the indigenous people we are left with "reservations" in all reality the areas in which the fed government deemed best suited for "our kind" long story short most tribes are stewards of the land with conservation efforts to keep these lands in their natural state for generations to come, its why santa fe, albuquerque, rio rancho are land locked in a sense.

OK my TW brothers I'm in need of some help. Yesterday I went in for tire rotation and was shown this (in Pics). This is on both sides and on drivers side the threads are warn out. I have only done service at Toyota dealership in Santa Fe.

My question is can the ball joint just be replaced or is it the entire UCA? Also if anyone able to do this for me in Santa Fe or any recommendations where to get it done.

Oh man, that sucks. Looks like the installer didn't use the cotter pin the UCAs should have come with. They also seem to be missing the dust seals. Fortunately, you caught it before the nut came completely off and the ball joints are replaceable. That's probably the end of the good news. I can't tell, but it looks like you need a pair of these:

I believe the ball joints are pressed into the UCA but I don't see it explicitly stated on the camburg site. The UCAs will have to be removed to install the new ones. If you pay someone to do the work it's going to add up in a hurry. Good luck!

I’m in Rio Rancho and could do it pretty reasonably. I’d check with camburg to see which joints you need. The ones posted above are spendy at $300.

 

I took a look at your post history just to see what else you were running on the truck... Look at the 3rd pic in the thread you posted https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/pro-almost-done.548676/ - you can CLEARLY see there is a gap where it's supposed to sit flush. I can point to it using paint or something if you can't tell. I think the dealer goofed on this when they installed it way back then. You should show that plus the timestamp to the dealership and push the service manager. I think they should be held accountable for fixing that.


If the dealer tells you to pound sand and you want to wait to fix it, at least shim it with some bigass washers and tighten it down. With it flopping like that, you could lose it if you hit some bouncy sections of highway... There's a spot on 84 headed into Santa Fe from Los Alamos or Espanola that bounces a few times, that sort of bounce where your suspension full cycles a few times... Or even a speed bump or dropping down a curb could turn the looseness into your UCA failing completely.

Removing UCAs isn't bad and pushing bushings isn't bad. I have all the tools to do it, but I'm living in my RV in Santa Fe until we find a house up in Los Alamos. The only real specialty thing is the press. If you want to try it yourself, PM me and I'll get the press out of storage for you to borrow.

 

Reading that post, it sounds like the original dealer he bought from in Texas installed them. I doubt the Santa Fe dealership will fix their mistakes. Keep us updated OP.

 

So picked up wheels/tires on Tuesday and the dummies at Discount tire decided they wanted to take a grinder two of my wheels. I’m sure they knew these cheap steelies hit the outboard side of the caliper and decided they would just clearance the wheel for me, and without telling me.

Well, luckily the 35s didn’t fit perfectly so I decided just to take the wheels/tires home in the back of the truck, and that’s when I noticed two of the wheels had fresh grind marks on the inside.

I contacted Camburg and sent the pics to them. They got back to me and said: The issue you are having is coming from how much the shocks are being compressed. You may not need to replace the spindle adaptors as they don’t look broken, or cracked from those pictures...
Basically the lower arms are being pressed down so much by the shock that Its wanting to / has popped out of the spindle. I would suggest new bolts nuts and washers, but if you or your shop sees that the spacers are damaged you should replace those.

I ordered the bolts, nuts, and washers. Now my issue is I do not have a tool to adjust the Fox shocks.

 

Guess they’re buying you new wheels!

 

yeah they just ordered two more to be in early next week. doing a full cab mount relocate this sunday so next week ill finally be on 35's
