MT Accumulator Delete Mod (ADM) and BS Thread

Hey @tonered wow 113 pages on this topic! I’m back in a taco, this time in an MT. I hate the accumulator so will attempt to digest this thread today.

Just the pics in the first post. The dremel mod is the way to go. Just gently clamp off the fluid supply line and cut in a nice, deep channel between the ports. Re-connect the upper fitting first to allow the fluid to dribble down an purge the air.

 

so I have a hard line kit from trident when he was still making them last year but I haven't installed it yet and I guess it the clutch bleeding process that got me kind of hung up because I don't have a clutch reservoir and I've never had to bleed a clutch before. Any info or advice on getting this ADM done I'm sick of this crap pedal feel

 

@tonered will know but I think the sport shares a reservoir between brake and clutch?

 

Heads up that the hard line kit uses an 11mm flare fitting going into the slave. I was surprised and didn't have that size flare wrench. A standard wrench with careful torque saved the day.


The biggest thing is connecting the upper fitting first. From there, just have someone around to help you bleed. The unlike brakes, the clutch pedal will not come up off the floor without help. Don't worry though. A stroke and pressure will come back.

Can't have a clutch operated transmission without some kind of fluid reservoir. Your manual will show you where the clutch / brake fluid reservoir is.

 

There is a separate one on the ORs and Pros. The Sports and 2016 / 2017 SR 5MTs draw from the main brake reservoir. This can sorta be seen here:

whats the difference between a flare nut wrench and just and open end wrench?

Where do you crack the line to let the air out? like with brakes you crack the nipple at the caliper

A flare wrench grabs on four or five flats versus two or three. Flair fittings are weaker than solid fasteners and can round or crush easily. The 11mm is a bit thicker and stands up to an open ended wrench.


The bleed nipple is on the slave. You can see it in pics in the 1st Post.

 

so bleeding would be the same process as bleeding brakes? would it be worth it to get an 11mm flarenut wrench to be safe?

 

I want to buy a manual just to do this mod, nice.

 

It is the same, but communication is more critical as, if you get air in there, it is more of a PITA to work it out.


If you can find one. It is an odd size and was an unexpected surprise when I encountered it.
