What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

East to clean and maintain? I plan on doing vinyl in conjunction with sound dampening. With the combination of the two im banking that it will be cooler overall on a hot day.

Lol. My crawl box throws so much heat. My son noticed it right away. AC cant match it

 

Right after I installed the vinyl I sent my throttle body to Maxbore so I haven't driven it yet. I'm real happy with the way it looks and the quality, the vinyl is very thick. I also have factory vinyl in my 2000 Chevrolet and I love it. As long as I can afford it I will never have carpet in a truck.

 

Replaced the exterior front door handles. Drivers side Factory Toyota ($150), passenger side Cheap internet knock off. Of course the drivers side will get more use. I just wonder how long the cheap one will last.
Also added Sound Deadening to the inside of all 4 door panels. I can hear myself think while driving now.

USPS lost my shock parts so those get pushed another week.

 

I’ve had vinyl in a lot of work trucks. I take a bucket with some soap and water and a hand scrub brush to clean any dirt, use the shop vac to remove and dry and maybe wipe it down with whatever interior cleaner we happen to have on the truck. I have one of those vinyl kits that will be going in my pickup before it sees the road again.

 

Since we’re on the bushing topic, who has experience with the poly cab mount bushings? Mine need replaced pretty bad. Are the vibrations awful with them? It looks to me like you wouldn’t want to replace the radiator support bushings with poly if you’re wheeling. Thoughts?

 

the ES ones didn't fit my double cab mostly.

But the fronts did. They are fine, no difference. But seeing how I don't have them all around...doesn't mean much ha

 

I have the ES ones all around and don't notice too much of a difference on or offroad.

 

Damn I heard stories of the aftermarket CV bind but now I have a good visual representation.

 

Since I don't have jute padding under mine I have noticed the cab is MUCH warmer with the vinyl around the trans tunnel. If i ever get back under the vinyl again (when I finally crawlbox probably) I am going to wrap the trans tunnel better.

Switching from ADD hubs to Manual hubs to reduce wear on my CV boots and axels. Also, it is nice to have the ability to free wheel if I happen to break a CV axel on trail.

Slapped an oem cv in and fixed the problem! Now I just need to find more oem ones to carry for spares.

 

I have OEM manual axles if you need some hit me up. I don’t have any ADD on hand but am picking up some.

 

I have a line here local on 2 add axles. Both need boots but should work great for spares

 

Perfect example of how aftermarket CVS bind earlier. That thing would have snapped if you wheeled on it much. Even an aftermarket reman is better option than the cheap parts store axles.

 

Yeah I try to keep oems on the truck, but I swapped that aftermarket one in while I was rebooting and next thing you know a year and half passed lol oppps
