I just got my windows tinted and had them put 5 percent cus I love dark windows and I had it before on my last car (an expedition) and it didn't seem so bad. But now I basically can't see jack shit at night! As will Ferrell so eloquently put it "I immediately regret that decision!"

So just a warning to those who are considering going super dark on the tint: moderation is key!

I agree I wanted 5 on the front windows as well and the guy at the tint shop talked me out of it, and I'm glad he did. I have 5 on the back and ac doors and can't see jack shiz out of them at night

Had 5 on my last car and it sucked so much to off road or drive at night. Had to roll down the windows to see.

David, I too was somewhat clueless as to how the rating scale worked but the installer I went to had different shade pieces up on a window in his shop so I could see the difference as he explained what everything was. Keeping the long arm of the law in mind I did look up what the state declared as the end of the line so to speak and the installer was right on top of that and provided me with the same information. Hopefully your local installers will offer the same visual display to help you choose.

As for the measurements I'm certain that there are those here that are better versed than myself but I understand the percentages to indicate how much light is allowed through the film, ie: lower number = darker film. Anyone who sees an error there feel free to correct me as I'm not too knowledgeable about tint.

you are correct, for example 5 percent is darker tint than 20 percent, i have 20 on my front two windows and im going to put 5 percent on my back windows soon

I have 15% on my fronts. Kind of hard to see out at night in dark areas so I couldn't imagine having 5%. I'm overall happy with the 15% though I had 35% on my last vehicle and it was never dark enough for my liking. I eventually want to get the back and AC door windows a little darker.

I got 20 on the fronts and the back (regular cab) and I would say 15 or 20 would be the best. So far I like the 20 on the sides but I would probably go a little darker on the back

This is what I'm planning on doing next week. Do you have photos of how that turned out? Did you do the windshield, too?
