The BAD lever takes some getting used to, but it is convenient.

    Question for you folks.

I want a nice 556/223 build but don’t feel like building one at the moment. I’m trying to keep my budget below 1.5k.

    Thoughts?

    TIA.

Understood. No judgment...it’s a nice looking build. I’m new to building and trying to figure stuff out. I’ve seen all kinds of builds on here... I keep finding myself leaning in the direction of BCM parts/builds but, dang those parts come with a price tag & seem hard to find in stock.

The Springfield “Saint” line is very nice. I was trying to buy the Saint Victor but couldn’t find it in stock so I went the build route.

That is definitely the situation right now with guns in general. BCM makes quality stuff. Piece it together when you find stuff in stock, you don’t have to buy everything at once.

You know, I’ve seen some mixed reviews on that line but I highly value everyone’s opinion in here so thanks for that input.

@SouthernYoder I bought my Saint Victor about 1.5-2 years ago. Very happy with it. Pretty quality rifle out of the box. I'm sure prices have changed but got it for $995 shipped to my ffl.

Yeah prices have went up a little. I really paid the piper when I finished my 6.5 grendel.

that’s good to hear because I know of a place that has one ready to rock for 1.2k

I’ll get one eventually, just nice to get it ready to roll instead of fighting with roll pins and trying to remember which way spring triggers go lol

Honestly I'd look at piecing together an aero or bcm complete lower/upper combo if you have patience to find them in stock
The 16 inch Aero i posted on the last page is stupidly good rifle for less than 1k even at 500 yard steel.
Even the bcm ar pistol came in below 1500 for the lower/uppero bcg/charging handle 2021 pricing too.

Larue ultimate upper is under $900. You just need a lower assembly and you’ll have a complete, tack driving combo!

    Same crap everyone else got
If you were in GA, theres a few nice "builds" for that price on the local forum. Bcm complete uppers on geissele lower, dd upper on bcm lower. Might I suggest the geissele blem 16inch super duty luna black rifles that's in stock right now for $1500

What does "nice" mean to you? Does this budget include optic/mags/etc?

If you just want a prebuilt rifle that will run reliably, the under 1k price point will do fine. If you want it to look a little cooler, there's furniture.

1.5k is a good way to get into a basic AR with good optic and some ammo. Pretty much all the entry-grade brands (S/W, Ruger, Windham, Sig etc.) can take care of that approach.

If 1.5k is just what you're looking to spend on the rifle alone you can start looking at mid-grade brands - Springfield, BCM, DD, etc.

If "nice" means top tier, you're gonna need a rifle budget $2kish - Noveske, POF, LMT, PWS, etc.

I’ve got optics for all my rifles and plenty of ammo and mags. I know, I know, can never have enough but I’ve got plenty for all my applications. Since you’ve posted this, I’ve came to the conclusion that your right, will need to spend around the 2-2.5kish range for something nice like that as a AR-556 platform such as POF, LMT, PWS.

I have heard good reviews on the Springfield line saint but not a fan of the polytics that came with them but a big fan of BCM and DD.

    I’ve got plenty of hunting type rifles, 7mm, 6.5 creed, 6.5 grendel, 308, 30-06.

Also have plenty of budget 556 rifles as Anderson, S&W, DPMS, Savage.

HMMMMMM. Good food for thought guys. Thanks a lot.
