I'm not super concerned about it. It's not automatic so it's legal. And i love driving barefoot. If driving in flip flops is legal, driving barefoot is better. I know it's a rule, but it's dumb. Anytime i've got flip flops on I take them off and shove them up against the seat and drive barefoot. But i'm basically an outlaw, so that must also be taken into consideration.

It's all good. I figured your job was keeping you busy. Plus I don't want to keep you busy on your only day off.

 

Yeah, it seems like it would be a lot easier cutting the bolt out, and placing a new one backwards, but it just makes me nervous doing it that way. All I know is, that is not the hardest part of putting UCAs in, it's trying to get the washers in place next to the mount while also sliding the UCA into place, I always struggle with that part!

I put it in quotes because I think it’s a misconception that it’s illegal but it isn’t actually illegal to drive barefoot.

 

I thought the washers were the easy part. When I replaced the bushings on the UCAs, popping off the ball joint from the spindle was a little work, and just working around the gas/brake lines on the driver's side.
@Sloth It's also been a while since then, but I don't remember much room for the lines to go, just a small amount of space between the body and frame.

 

That they don't, I looked. Pains in the ass.

Oddly, no. Only gets occasional use. Was cutting foam board off my crawlspace and I must have hit the concrete just right surrounding the sealant without realizing it.

 

With your 4Runner being on the newer side, hopefully everything will come apart easily!

 

Hopefully. I think the worst on the Tacoma was the top nut on the rear shocks. I had to cut those off.

 

Your right, those top shock nuts are always a pain! I know on 4Runners, those top shock nuts are slightly hidden, making them harder to get off than the ones on Tacoma's.

 

next batch of beer was transferred to a secondary fermenter (first time using a secondary to clear up the beer). Stuff smells awesome, hopefully it turns out half as good as it smells

 

I've never liked the idea of bending the metal and scratching up the paint. I have done it once but preferred to cut replace the bolt. I've had mine in like that for about 150k with no problems

My fixed is a SOG, something issued years ago, and I don't strap it on often.
I used to carry Ken Onion/Kershaw. Even using the paraframe ever since

 

Yeah, that's also true, it sucks doing unnecessary damage to your truck when you can avoid it!

 

I have posted about this before, but one more time with feeling. Literally nearly every part I've touched and changed on the Vette has gone wrong someway, somehow. Last spring I decided to replace the broken sunvisors with a set of "better than original" upgraded units. It was so nice not to have broken edges that flapped down that I'd bang my head on getting into and out of the car.

Today I flipped down the visor and I noticed where it attaches to the windshield frame had a decent sized gap. I got to work and looked at it and moved the visor to the side to check it out and it fell out followed by a shower of plastic. I reached out the to the vendor and they're sending me a replacement clip so I should be able to refit it and I'll lubricate the moving part and try and secure the locks in better, but man, I keep striking out with this stupid car. A person actually makes sunvisor delete caps and driving home without it, it was SO nice to have all that additional visibility as it sits just outside my sightline. I'm tempted to forgo putting them back in, but I odn't know how much I actually will miss them.

Jeez..what a pain in the balls. In your current example, leaving it be or trying to upgrade/address the issue still is a problem. grrrr

 

What recipe did you go with this time?

 

unfortunately no tap out shirts here. I do have Oakley prescription glasses and prescription sunglasses though. #badass

 

I do recall it was a little tight. But I was able to unclip the hardlines from whatever secures them (IIRC little plastic clips they sit in?) and it gave enough movement to work around them.
