OVTune 3.5L Tacoma Supercharger and Twin Turbo Systems

I really do love how subtle this emblem is. More my style than the Ecoboost emblems that I was considering.

 

So if mini cats work to resolve CEL, does this mean that Turbo tunes never use closed loop?

Monitor fueling status on Torque or OBS Fusion. It will tell you closed loop, open loop, and DFCO.


I don't know about the TT tune, but on our factory turbos, it was a lot like the NA Taco. It's in closed loop most of the time that you are driving similar to the EPA drive cycle. Spool more than a few PSIs (or get into the high engine loads) and your adding fuel beyond stoic.

 

For a garage door opener? finding a rear view with one built in should be plug and play if you have the power running already. Got mine for 40-50 dollars with homelink

 

I would be curious, but seems that with spacers and mini cats, the O2 is feeding the ECU bogus info, so if attempting closed loop, it would be chasing an impossible goal, and be throwing off the mixture in the hunt.

The only reason it would matter to me is that inspections require connecting to the ECU with Motor Vehicle software running. Active O2 is verified. Not sure it would require closed loop, but guessing yes.

 

The state inspections that hook up to OBD only check for emissions related DTCs and Readiness Codes. You're typically allowed one Readiness Code not set or Incomplete. No DTCs are allowed.

Unless you have dyno type checks, then they don't look at actual emissions or fuel status.

 

Tonered, that makes sense, so back to the mini cats; seems that will make O2 Redy, but unlikely it could use that senser for closed loop. But prevents CEL. Thanks.

 

Closed loop is controlled by the primary O2s, up near the turbos

 

The mini cats are on the rear o2's, which are not monitored for AFR. They're only there for cat converter function/efficiency verification.

@OVTune I think I need a new gasket for turbo to downpipe. Who knows what else is going on...but I think I have to start there. Can I get you to even overnight me two of them? So that I've an extra too in case I ever needed it. I'll pay of course.

All I know is this is hardly the first time I've considered burning the fucking truck down because apparently this fucking kit was a goddamn mistake.

 

If this shit can't be fucking fixed for good I'll need to look into just returning the truck to stock, which would be enough trouble on its own because I don't have the stock primary cats anymore, or selling as is because I'm fucking sick of paying money to fix shit on this kit and can't even fucking drive the truck and enjoy it for any length of time.

 

Just throw that bitch on Facebook marketplace and it can be their problem. Market is so hot for Tacoma’s anyway and the TT will probably sell instantly. There is really nothing terribly special about this kit that a competent performance tech shouldn’t be able to sort out in short order.

 

I understand you're blaming the kit but every single problem you have had so far is because of that first shop you went to who Rigged the kit and broke parts. It's not the turbo kits fault.

What **exactly** is the issue you're having?


Exhaust leak?

Maybe it is the turbo to manifold gaskets. The ones we per-assembled and that first shop decided to just take it all apart. I wouldn't be surprised if they put it in backwards or something.

FYI, the Turbo to manifold gaskets are Graphite ring with single layer MLS.

If they took the turbos off the manifold it's possible those gaskets are toast.


I am sorry you are having issues but it's that shops fault. They didn't even use all the damn pieces...

 

Another rec, take it to a diesel performance shop. Those guys know turbo boost inside and out. You really don’t need them to touch the motor or anything else other than just making sure the twirley boys are set up right and there are no leaks. The diesel guys literally do that alllll day long.
