yeah it’s a tad too firm for me over small bumps. Would like to soften it up

How much weight do you have back there? Plate bumper/full size spare, anything additional?

You can definitely run your rear tires with a lower psi if unloaded. Should help alot with harshness

Hello everyone, I was wondering if you could help me out.
recently I bought a c4 hybrid bumper, winch and fox 2.5s with dscs from a friend who's trading in his truck. The shocks have 14" 600lbs coils and are tuned by accutune. one concern that I have is that I feel that the truck is lifted a bit too much on the front ,I prefer performance over looks so I want to lower the front a bit if it is taking away travel. My question is if there's a way to tell when you have too much preload? measuring the coils or measuring the threads showing on the shocks?
Also the blue knobs on the reservoirs are stuck do I need to loosen the Allen bolts on the knob or just apply more strength? And finally, I can see that there is a + and a - sign on the knobs which way should i turn the knobs if a want a softer suspension?
    Thanks for the help

I think you will find these 2 articles will answer most of your questions. The knobs being stuck could be a problem. Too much force will break stuff so beware. You may need to consult with @AccuTune Offroad .

    - is softer, + is firmer

Do you know what size Allen Key is used for the 3 set screws on the high speed dsc knob?

Fox 2.5 w/ DSC + 14” 650 lb spring is going in soon. Don’t care about inches of lift just functionality. Mostly need to clear the 285/75r17 that will be going on (and yes I’ve trimmed, body relocated, pinch weld, etc).

Front weight includes half bumper, winch, dual battery, sliders, rear bumper. Will be adding skids in future.

Need advice on preload. Thinking 1 1/8” on driver, 3/4” on passenger. Thoughts?

I know they say 21” max from top to bottom eye. That is on the truck right? What does this look like before they are on (they are still on the way so I don’t have them in front of me yet)?

Thank you for the help! I highly appreciate it, I’ll read those articles so that I can set an optimal preload and also to start messing with the adjusters.

I put the 2.5 shocks on my ‘21 with icon uca uniball and 650 eibach springs , on harder bumps at any speed I get a loud chirp sounding squeak? Maybe in these 1500 posts there is info about this? I’m afraid I’m damaging my shocks

Hard to narrow down an issue with just a description of the sound. I would suggest going over everything that was touched and check for metal on metal contact. Sway bar and skid plates tend to be the culprit

    All of them.
The inner radiator support like to crack too and makes squeaks over bumps. Fun times.

I swapped the coils and when I went to adjust preload I realized I didn't ensure the collar was set well in relation to the beginning of the coil. One of the halves of the collar is on top of the coil, the other in front of the lip of the coil, if that makes sense. I don't have a picture at the moment. But it made me a bit nervous when loosening and tightening the set screw. I was able to jiggle the offending collar half up over the lip but only barely. I don't think I have a chance of adjusting the collar only without also spinning the coil unless I compress it.

Curious to know if anyone has encountered this issue and/or if this is something important enough to go through the effort of compression, either with Macphersons or taking the whole assembly off.
