You make DRS sound like autopilot. Far from it. DRS simply takes the place of close-up drafting to gain a speed advantage. All of the rest of the stuff still has to happen; the chasing driver has to position their car close enough to make the pass possible, has to accelerate at just the right time, STILL has to draft the car ahead to get a slinghot effect -- with aero turbulence this has become hairier -- and, many times, the chasing driver has to outbrake the other car at the end of the straight to make the pass stick. If seeing two cars heading for a turn side by side isn't exciting enough for you, I don't what to recommend.

So if DRS goes should they take away the overtake button too?

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
All that stuff aside, you are all but guaranteed of passing the guy in front of you if you have DRS and the other guy doesn't.

It's phony racing. No one should have that much of an advantage for being in second place entering a so-called DRS zone.

If that was true they would be swapping every lap! That doesn't happen does it? You still have to be the faster car to make it happen. Trust me I wanted Max to win the last race but hell Lewis was coming fast at him. 1.5 seconds a lap quicker when he came up on him. Merc won on strategy and Lewis. Red Bull should've brought Max in to cover that but they thought he could get to the finish before he caught up? Not with Lewis behind the wheel. I agree it would be a lot more difficult to pass and therefore would be more hair raising to go for a pass. It just might be a parade then.

If you're 1.5 seconds a lap faster, then good for you. I'm all about the quicker driver passing the slower ones. I just don't think they need what ammounts to a free pass once they get to the front straight. Make them earn that pass. With DRS, it's a foregone conclusion.

DRS is allowed/active when coming up behind a back marker, it should only be active when fighting for a position.

I wander if Lewis gained because of this when he was fighting back?

F1 schedule change moving Paul Ricard race forward a week had threatened to kill Grosjean's Mercedes run as new race date conflicts with an Indy race but Mercedes is going to run the car for him on the original date
