Buy Enter the Kettbell by Pavel. Then buy kettlebells and a balance ball or balance board. Simple, very effective and very hard. Especially when you get into the 75lb plus KB's. That's when it gets fun.

This YouTube video popped up in my feed.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GsVJsS6474

Yep, in 2012 I could not one pushup. Screw a plank. I started working out with my coach. My worst was not getting off the floor after changing my oil. Crap! Years of working in the field, late nights, way too much fast food.

We had a visitor to our class and explained to him to join us working out. His comment was, "oh; this should be easy." So we did planks, pushups, mountain climbers, chest taps, jumping jacks, squats, crunches, bridges. We use bands for some exercises, but everything is resistance x reps. After 20 minutes, our visitor was beet red and out of breath. I told him best to sit out the next set!

The fun part, our class, is on the most part, 60+ and we all have Parkinson's. I dropped from 308# down to 235# but slacking due to Covid shut down meant putting 15# back. 6'3", so I need to lose those extra pounds.

@PackCon I went running with my boxing coach, telling her I wanted to get faster than 12 minutes a mile. So we were running, with me keeping pace, and she said, "you are doing faster than 10 minutes a mile and carrying on a conversation," i.e., go faster. No sooner did she say that I tripped, face plant, eight stitches to my chin. Oops. PR for Sprint Tri was 1:57 (Santa Cruz, CA). RA Swimming and cycling are fun. The goal is to have fun! Nice time on your full marathon!

Mix it up, but keep trying and keep improving.

Video. I need to see a video on this one. We stand on BOSU balls to work on our balance. It's funny if I pass a tennis ball by bouncing off the floor and letting my partner catch and return, I stay one BOSU for the full minute. Just try to stand on it; I barely last five minutes.

I can walk with a 50-pound kettlebell, but balance and swing 75 pounds, oh no!

This touches on why I don't like when people insinuate IF is "skipping meals" because in essence it's not. You eat what you need to eat, you just eat it in a set period of time.

I still eat breakfast, I just do it at 12p-1p.

There is no law that says you can only eat breakfast food at a specific time.

I'll eat bacon and eggs at 11pm at night or drink a beer at 9am.

Also you set up your window when you like to eat most. I know a lot of people have their windows set earlier because they do like big breakfasts. If your window is earlier who knows you could eat twice the amount of the gross concoction you just described :)

Sorry didnt mean a full bosu ball I meant one of the half ones with the plastic on the bottom. Flip it over and stand on the flat plastic part during the clean and press and snatches, it's damn good training and a great challenge. I dont have the ability to make a video myself, I own no cellphone or camera, but there are some out there on the ole youtube.

Gotcha. I just get blood sugar stuff if I don’t eat in the morning. Feel uncomfortable, get grumpy, etc.

You have a very good point though.

There is a guy who goes to the same gym as I do who uses one of those half balls with the flat plastic bottom during his workouts. Balancing on that thing and doing all kinds of exercises....with dumbbells on the cables, etc. He’s a really nice guy & super fit but...I can’t picture myself trying to do all that. He says it’s beneficial for core etc

    Haha, why is that?

Depends on your definition of breakfast. Is breakfast certain types of food, e.g. bacon and eggs? Is it a meal eaten at a specific time of the day? Is it the first meal of the day? Wikipedia: "breakfast is the first meal of the day eaten after waking up, usually in the morning. The word in English refers to breaking the fasting period of the previous night." The way I see it, any meal of any type of food can be breakfast if it is your first meal of the day, thus breaking your fast.

    Go on...

My Buddy Bob. He's 82 years old. US Army retired, and still rocking the Bosu ball.

Feet together hold that bose (rubber side down) for 60 seconds. Now give me 10 pushups. Do three sets and move on to the next thing. I was about dead for the last pushups, but Bob was just doing them. Damn, nothing like peer pressure!

This is one of our fun games. "Raise the flag" that's a bungee cord attached to 20# pole. As you go from horizontal to fully raised it's about 50# of force. Core and Balance. It's harder than it sounds. Filmed prior to covid.

Insulin is basically a trained response. You can train yourself to need food all the time or you can train yourself to not.

Blood sugar issues with no breakfast is something I want to avoid. Diabetes isn’t on my bucket list.

I like being able to go without eating and not have issues. Like if I serve a double shift and get 14 hours without a single break. I need to not feel bad because I haven’t eaten.

Its also nice ultra training for when you know your body is going to be running on empty.

The thread went from @weldertaco talking about playing hide the thumb to @Travish325 losing motivation to now the little man crew in here talking about getting smaller by starving themselves...

I had to take some time off. I was working like crazy and burned myself out. Took a month off from the gym and just enjoyed time with the kiddo and family after work rather than plates. Getting back into it now tho :anonymous: andddd been busy ordering shit for my f150 as well.

I'm "just a kid" at 62 years old!

I managed to squish out my disc like a jelly donut; thankfully, they can heal themselves but not benching. The heaviest thing I lift is about 50#, but I limit myself to 25# Kettlebell or a 25# sandbag toss in our boxing classes.

The stupidest thing I did in my 20s was lifting engine blocks. Pick them off the ground, load them into the back of a truck playing strong man. L3-L4 L4-L5 L5-S1 ruptured disc (lots of pain). Walking and Physical Therapy helped. I love my boxing class, as it is boxing/core/stretching to keep me active and move.

My goal in life is to keep moving! Exercise is good!
