It's silly season for sure. But anyone's been around for a while knows damn well, when prices increase dramatically, they never really go back down to pre-silly season levels. They may come back down a bit, but that's it.
But this is one of the most absurd examples for sure. $23K for 270k miles :der:

Who the heck drives 65,000+ miles/year in a Tacoma? I hope the op was reimbursed for mileage.

Sales reps. I average 40-50k a year and have a relatively compact territory in the Northeast. I have counterparts that cover huge swaths of the Western states who do 70-80k. We do get a nice stipend, gas card and ezpass.

I’d rather buy a Tacoma that has 270k easy highway miles than one that has seen 80k city miles. But still $23k is crazy.

Haha I didn’t “shit on own truck”, you brought up the fact i had a second gen and I told you I sold it because it struggled dearly to pull a 60” zero turn on a 10’ trailer. Like 45-50 to the floor at all times.

I’d be checking for signs of pilot car use. We used to put 100k on a year when business was booming. Look for CB and light bar wiring and places where a high pole or flag brackets were.

I agree it is absurd but it looks clean.....sitting in a parking lot or driving down the road you would never think it had almost 300K. $23K is about the minimum price of admission for a Gen3. Toyota changes the things so little a brand new one physically isnt much different either.

Read an article on some guy in Louisiana who put 1 million miles on his within 4 years or something crazy.
Toyota gave him a new 2021 full-swap I suppose so they could take a look at how he did it - apparently
service records indicate he went by the book.

Still one has to wonder if these dealer-cats know something we don't, like these Tacoma's have diamonds in
the door panels or something, or gold bars within the frame... or that the entire line is going to go away and
then these Tacoma's will be worth their weight in gold...

I suspect UFO's are about to descend upon the earth and render every vehicle useless EXCEPT the Tacoma
therefore they will be worth millions each.
