Funny enough. I just got my first prescription glasses yesterday. My left eye is bum, so my brain tunes it out and just uses my right eye, and my right eye is "overpowered" so is still really good. So when I put the glasses on, all it does is "open up" my left eye. My wife doesn't believe me when I say I see no difference between with and without glasses because my right eye is strong enough that it cancels it out and I see perfectly fine. Got some of those cheap-o like 15$ glasses just to try it, really not a fan.

I think I'm going to order an axle with brakes for the trailer I picked up. The one on there is a bit bent and I want brakes anyway.

TK Axle is $325, Dexter is $460. I probably won't put more than 500 miles/year on this trailer and most of what I'm using it for would be <2500 lbs with the trailer and cargo combined, so is a Dexter really worth an extra $135? It looks like all parts are interchangeable between the two.

Is there a quality/ warranty difference? I have literally no clue besides i've heard of dexter axles before, and not heard of TK Axle.

Blueberry Honey Ale. Should be going to bottles this weekend and ready to drink come Memorial Day.
With the intended use, I'd say the item to be concerned about would be the bearings. You can get the cheaper version and, if the bearings crap out, fortunately they're relatively cheap and you can swap in the Dexter ones then. If they hold up, you just saved $135. If you were hauling every day, maybe I'd have a different opinion but it's light duty, just keep them well lubed and keep an eye on the bearings.

Makes sense to me. I think I read both had Timken bearings, but even if they do fail like you said that's an easy enough swap later.

Are we talking a spring axle here or is it a torsion axle? If it's a torsion I would probably consider the Dexter, but just a typical, leaf spring axle I can't imagine any longevity issues with the less expensive option. Dexter really is the market leader with torsion axles, but leaf spring axles there is no magic at all in them. Like Mike said the only critical part is the bearing and those are easy to change.

It's a simple leaf spring axle. Based on what both of you said, I think I'll go the less expensive route. Thanks!

I'm 99% sure it's an 89/74 but I'll have to measure that and the bolt pattern.

Has anyone on here built a trailer under GVW of 3000 that got it registered and gotten a plate with the MA RMV? The MA RMV website is not helpful at all and Google searches come up the hypothetical situations. Does anyone know the direct process? I have a lot of info on ones over 3000lbs but not under.

I did my sunfish trailer as homebuilt. It was pretty easy, just gin up a Bill of materials with prices, quantities, where purchased and you submit that with the paperwork. That was the only thing I had to do as it was basically a modified HF trailer kit with no title.

Do you know what forms I need to fill out? It is an existing trailer with no paperwork from another state but was "homemade" but no VIN and it wasn't registered.

Love my Oakleys though..Oil Rigs. I have very good peripheral vision and most sunglasses let light in the side which irks me. I loved the 80s goggle style lens but can't find them. Oh and I have the Valentino Oakleys @DoubleRGirl :boink:

As of right now, any weekend will do (either Saturday's or Sunday's), what works best for you? No, you shouldn't need any tools, we have everything we would need at my work.
Edit: Will either the 12th or 13th of June work for you? That would be good for me.

If that's the case, you may just be able to make up a bill of sale - tax amount will be based on what the bill of sale says you paid for it. For mine they wanted the previous registration as well since it was from Massachusetts and had a state assigned VIN but I don't think that would come up for an out of state trailer.

You just need to have your insurance agent write up the Registration and Titling application to hand in with it. You can register at 3000 without needing to jump through hoops like an inspection - some states are 2999, but MA's rule is 3000 or under.

I had the old reg for mine, but didn't use it. After talking to my insurance it was easier to do as homebuilt by me since it had no title. I don't think i filled anything out besides the regular registraton/ title form and had the BOM I put together. Call your insurance agent, they should be able to tell you really quickly what you need.

Using your insurance agent is the easiest way to do it. They shouldn't charge you anything unless you want them to go to the RMV for you. You tell them the info, they'll fill it all out and then you just go down there and pick up the paper work and bring it down to the RMV with the most important thing....cash money for the guberment.

    Cheers - thank you.

I have a hot lead on a set of TRD OR wheels that would match mine. Would get them this weekend! Supposedly only 25k ish on them, would be nice. I'll put them in my garage until I smoke mine, and then load those on - set of 4, smoke those, and then sell off 2 and my spare and get 6 new rubbers. :drunk:

So, let's say I buy a set of 4 wheels/tires w/ TPMS someone has taken off of their vehicle.

Let's also say I have tech stream

How do I go about getting the TPMS codes from the wheels that already have the tires installed? Is there something that spits the codes if you hold it near the sensor? Unfortunately I think they're already off the donor vehicle so I can't pull the codes out from there (I can do that on my truck before I take them off, at least).

Anyway. If said tool does exist, does anyone around here have one? or would it just be worth it to haul them over to Town Fun Tire World City Stone and give 'em 20 bucks to tell me the codes?
