Just what I needed: an attitude adjustment! Thanks everyone for the great mix of opinions and suggestions. Time to bury the hatchet (and this thread LOL)

I picked mine up mid March. Told them I wasn’t vaxed yet and my co worker tested positive the day before. They put all the paperwork on the tailgate with the “sign here tabs”, i signed it, traded keys and left. Nobody was sick, but you may as well use Covid for some good.

Put yourself in the sales staff's shoes. Pushing the add-ons is part of their job. Humor them, but realize that your job is to resist these pressures. Be polite but firm in saying no to everything.

hello gentlemen, while we are on the topic and everyone is active I have a question for yall. I am real close to buying my first tacoma. I am looking at used models (2017-2019) and had a chance to finally look at the black/caramel interior ive had my eyes on. (i know, no one else likes that look) anyways, I did not realize until i was in person that the caramel door panels look (like pinholes) rather than the faux leather look that I expected. Is this consistent among most all tacomas or is that specifically the caramel/black interior package. PS all the pictures look to be a faux leather type material, even up close, but in person have more of a perforated material, almost like a fabric

If your credit score is great it helps a lot. At the time mine was 869/900 and they were blown away
at that number. I also had a monster down payment to the tune of $25,000. The finance dude was
nice enough asked all the standard 'do you want' questions which I declined but wasn't an ass-hat
    about it.

When he brought up the extended warranty I declined that too at the end of all of it he went back to
the warranty item and said 'with my credentials' (LOL) he could offer it to me at a greatly reduced rate,
which he did... and I took it at that point.

Don't be afraid to ask ( and probably be denied ) for some freebies... bed-mat/ bed-step/ bed-lites/ better floor mats.

Now the 'credentials' stuff was mostly pure b.s. on his part buttering me up, but he wanted to get 'something'
out of me and the only way was to greatly-reduce the extended warranty. If you are interested in it just decline
and at the end again ask if he can do better on it, and don't be afraid to throw them a number either.

Also remember these finance guys are the highest paid people at a dealership....

Just another in the long list of reasons to secure your own financing.

"Here's the check from the bank for the agreed upon amount."

    The end.

i appreciate it. i was kind of weighing my options. i still have about 2 or 3 months before it is all final but this is the point where i am making decisions on what i am for sure wanting in the truck and what i can live with and live without.

When you buy a Tesla you go "click" "click" "click" and pay the same large sum of money everyone else paid. Some time later you get a vehicle and drive home. At no point does anyone try to sell you on an extended blinker fluid warranty or volcano insurance. Also no need to kick rocks in the Toyota dealer lobby while they change your oil , only to later inform you that you need to also swap all fluids and brake pads soon for 1,000s of dollars, "or else"...

I will confirm when I buy that cyber truck.

Just say NO, it's that's simple.
Be direct right up front and tell him/her that you don't want any of it and they are just wasting both your and their time by discussing it.

Yeah just be firm, and tell him to stick that extended warranty where the sun don't shine if you don't want it.
Believe me i don't think anyone pissed of the finance guy more than i did when i took delivery of my truck last year.

I signed my paperwork via DocuSign and had them bring the truck to my house. There was never even a mention of any type of upsell.

Working on the never ending list
    Everything is Negotiable !

When I got De Taco in Mar.'21 the pickens were slim especially for the equipment I wanted as my intentions are to drive the wheels off this unit :D

The dealer had already applied, Window Tint, and their " Desert Protection Package " that consists of Door Guard and Handle protectors
Paint & Leather protection, Wheel Locks & Nitrogen in the tires. I've dealt with them before and part of this negotiation was for them to
remove & keep the factory tonneu cover. once in the finance office when the extended contract came up I listened and asked what was the best
one when a price was given I just looked at him and said nothing, finally he asked if that would work I said is that the best you can do, after a
moment or two of massaging the keyboard a lower price was presented at that point I said if you can do that with the same coverage on
a Toyota Warranty I'm a player ( they push aftermarket policies like Fidelity that have a bigger profit margin ) a few more hit's on the keyboard
and a complete it's that or nothing from me I got my Toyota warranty

I'm planning on some big time travel and if something did occur I did not want to have to deal with a 3rd party, and if I ever decide to sell my Taco
it's transferable and it's a Toyota Warranty

Then the real fight begins: delivered with defects, shitty paint, no parts, no loaners, broken promises etc.

I went into a little office cubby, she showed me all the options, I clicked no on an ipad that i didn't want the warranties/tire warranties/etc, and then she went onto the next thing.

My sales team was spectacular and I would go back and buy another car there in a heartbeat. Their service department is utter dumpster fire though.

Why people do this on something that's not a race car is beyond me.

You are not running your Tacoma in a way that air vs. nitrogen will make an effect, and if you are, you should not be driving your Tacoma that way. It's in racing where tires have extreme temperature fluctuations and need to remain stable. Biggest gimmick on anything that's not meant for the track. Not only that, they usually charge like $200 for it. Not that it's not worth $200 in materials and labor and overhead, but that it is completely lost on anything that isn't getting hurled into a corner at 95MPH.

Every time I see green valve stem covers on a freakin mini van, I laugh.

    end of my rant.
