Read everything you sign and politely refuse any upselling tactics. Congrats on the new Taco!

Say no thank you and then stay silent. Don't engage in discussion if you don't want to. You don't have to explain why you don't want something. Say no and smile at them. If they continue to talk, just stare at them.

It's really not that hard to say no. Just say no.
Just remember the first time you tried to get to 3rd base... do what she did.

Don’t let it upset you. The person is only doing a job, and any thought about you slips away the moment you leave their office. No different than a carnival guy pitching his game on the midway as you walk by. Nothing personal. Simply and pleasantly say, “no.”

Tell the sales person to tell the finance person you're not buying anything extra. Make the finance person come to the lobby with all the final paperwork. Look over everything and make sure they haven't added anything. If they did, make them take it off. Also, they'll try to add GAP insurance at up to a $1000 cost. If you're putting no money down, you may need it, you're insurance company can usually provide it for less. If not, then say you'll take the GAP for $500. If you pay the truck off before the finance term, you get a prorated refund from TFS if they provided the GAP insurance.

I had an interesting experience buying my Taco. Before the pandemic. Worked the price down from 38k to 34k. 4% interest. 640 credit score.

It was end of month (good time to buy a car/truck). Finance guy calls me in. Says "hey if you buy this warranty, I'll lower your interest rate". Apparently not so legal to offer me this, but I had no clue at the time.

So my payment stayed the same, got 1.9% interest instead of 4%. Got a platinum 6 year warranty for free. Can cancel the warranty for refund any time.

The only good advice I ever got from the finance guys was: don't go crazy, it's just a lease; and when you bring the vehicle back don't turn the keys over, negotiate because you keep all the money over your negotiated buyout price!

I agree just say no. I was at an Acura dealer buying a car with my son yesterday and while it took 3 hours, the finance guy was easy to work with and didn't push the extra warranty, etc after the first no.

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
The finance manager where I got mine was a smoke show. So I didn't mind sitting across a desk from her for half an hour.

She knew I was leasing so she didn't try to upsell me on extended warranties or any of that junk.

A word about nitrogen: My last car (a Subaru) came with nitrogen in the tires and those cool green valve stem caps. When the TPMS went off and informed me of low pressure in one of the tires I called one of the tire chains and asked about getting a top-up. He said they only add nitrogen if you purchase a contract from them.. Needless to say, I added a bit of air at the gas station and never knew the difference.

Just say no and tell them they have 60 minutes to get you out the door. It’s never taken me more than 30 minutes to get paperwork done, I won’t allow it period.

I had the same experience. Finance guy said "do you want paint protection or do you treat it like a truck?" so I said I treat it like a truck and chips and scratches are gonna happen no matter what. I said no to everything else. He didn't push after that.

My wife swapped her lease recently. We string the salesman on for two weeks until the last day of the month an hour before closing. We showed up and they panicked getting her car ready/washed/gassed up.

No bullshit, no upsells, we were out of there in 36 minutes and with a payment $10 cheaper than agreed on.
