Ah. I see the problem. The 4d hole spacing was good, but the 2d edge margin was a little shy. :D

    I like this idea.

Yeah, I had a strong feeling this was going to be the point of failure, eventually. Fortunately, the new system will not have this issue.

Few issues with the hitch idea...
    1. People with hidden hitches (myself included)
    2. People with no hitches (lots of 1st and 2nd gens)
    3. People towing or with bike racks
    4. A hitch mount will be heavy and can be a pain to grab and go. My goal was to make something that took little to no effort to steal and won't look suspicious doing so.
The reality is, everyone is going to have to cater the design to their particular truck. What I'm hoping to do is get a solid solution for the "regular Joe" and any of you irregular boys will have to come up with your own concepts. Hopefully, we develop a few different mounts and we can pass them around as needed, once the flag is "captured". Or keep the various mounts in your truck, so you can hand them off to the next guy.

Good points. Like you said, there are a bunch of ways to approach it.

    And an antenna. :D

Damn. You got that edit in there.

I wonder if something like the window flags could work. The pole goes in a hem instead of using grommets. The base could be magnetically attached like the original.

I was thinking about this today... if we want to stick with a flexible fabric flag, we could secure the flag (with grommets) to the flag pole, using something elastic. The elastic attachment would reduce the overall force on the fabric, around the grommets.

It'll damp the force but will not reduce it. Elastic and elastomeric materials don't like UV very much.

You could weave it on there with paracord? Fraying would be something to consider on the pole side. A round rod would be ideal.

Multiple attachments helps, but the flapping will get to just about any grommet.

Yeah! I miss flicking them and watching the patterns that the bulb at the top would make.

It would reduce the "shock" force... similar to using a bungy cord vs a steel cable when jumping off a bridge... But yes, the UV degradation would be a tough nut to crack.

Yeah. That is what I meant by damping it.

Sorry I can’t help but think that the Seahawks stole the 12th man idea from Texas A&M instead of ditching it they just paid them off so they keep using it lol

Eh... The 12th man phrase existed long before A&M trademarked it. And sometimes it's cheaper to pay someone off, then to fight them in court. Doesn't mean they're right.
