Contract until close can easily be more stressful than shopping. I'm sure you said before but I forget... is this your first home purchase?

 

Yup. I had a really easy time shopping fortunately. Got the first house I put an offer on as the sellers liked that my realtor left them a note about me being a first time buyer and all. So they took my offer which was more than asking, but way less then some of the other offers, and I beat out a cash offer.

 

Oh I love how their "please come visit us we're fucking desperate for tourism income" website is built like it's still 1996

 

According to Dan, the state is still using AOL dial-up....or was it Net Zero?

Damn I still remember all those discs that got mailed out

 

Used to always check my dad's newspaper for the free AOL minutes CDs that came in them

Nice! Sounds like you have a good realtor. It makes a huge difference, and all that badgering you're going through now is probably for the better.

I've gone through the process twice over the past 3 years (due to a not-totally-planned cross-country move), and the most stressful part for me was the cash on closing day. Moving that much money around feels super iffy, and the repeated warnings about wire fraud don't exactly give warm fuzzy confidence.

 

I had to explain Geocities to some of my software-developing coworkers.

At 0% and a car that I let the ex keep, I was just anxiously waiting to reach that $0 balance but not exactly excited about paying it off early since I had no interest on it.
