After my last service the dealer called asking if I wanted to trade or sell my 2018 Taco. At the time I told them no as it had only just turned 20,000 miles. A few days later I was thinking about it, bad idea maybe. Got on KBB for an instant buy quote. Let's just say I was shocked at what they offered, in a good way.
Couldn't bring myself to pass the offer up, so I sold it to them....
The same day I found a 2016 Tundra Platinum Crew Max 4x4, 1 owner, dealer serviced with 30,000 miles, so I bought it. Crazy!
Onto the Tundra forum I guess.

Congratulations! I came from a 2009 5.7L CrewMax myself, traded it on the Tacoma. 80,000 miles later and I still wish I had kept the Tundra, the drivetrain was just that much better, and now that I've got two kids (wasn't even dating when I bought the Tacoma mind you) I really, really, wish I had the CrewMax back.

Tacoma is finally paid off (5yr) so I'm in a good spot with it. But if I can ever save up the cash plus trade, I'll likely be back in a Tundra, or some other full size, preferably with a V8.

    Enjoy!

Crazy what’s going on right now with Tacoma resale value. Good for you and enjoy the different Toyota truck.

I’ve been contemplating it. Thinking about trading in for a Tundra or 4Runner. Only problem is finding the right one!

I thought selling for a second, then thought...what the fuck would I buy to replace it?

Really miss my 2000 Jeep TJ, but finding one in killer condition would be tough. Wouldn't own the newer Jeeps.

Jeeps don't have power fucking windows!

Looking at today's prices, I paid too good of a deal on both my 2019 Tacoma and 2018 4Runner and sounds like I'd never see that again, at least in the immediate year or so? I also plan to keep them each for 20 years. Considering I'll be dead in 30 ... ;)

I would consider trading my Taco for a Small ranch in Wyoming.

Haha! "Keeping at least 20!" Hopefully we'll have a flying Tacoma by then. I'll just punch in a destination and take a nap like old guys do! :D

I’m probably in the same boat as you age wise. Maybe we’ll be driving one of these next!95E9D1FB-1A56-4F07-9A57-3E09F2B12978.jpg

Can you tell us what they paid you for it, I keep hearing that people are getting great offers but I'd sure like to know what the dealer is actually paying?

    Yeah.
I have no current interest in trading or selling, but trade-in on my 2018 looks to be higher than I paid new. The problem is that prices have gone up everywhere, and availability of a replacement is a problem (I don't like buying used cars, I have trust issues). So, even though values seem to have gone up, the net result doesn't seem that different. Kinda like trying to move to a new house in a seller's market -- you get good money for your house, but you pay more for the one you are moving to as well.

Making the trade today. Going from a 2019 Tundra Crewmax back to the Tacoma. I wasn't thinking about getting rid of my truck either but the amount they were offering is kinda silly. I paid $40,700 for mine 2 years ago, put 24,000 miles on it and they are offering me $40,000 for it. With the tax savings on the new Tacoma it works out to around $42,000 which is only about $400 less than Carvana offered me for my truck. Of course I had to search and wait for a Silver manual to become available but it finally showed up this week. The Tundra is a great truck but with just my wife and I it is just more than I need.

I would love a CrewMax Tundra but I would have to sell my 2019 and throw in another $15-20K to get there. The low fuel economy also keeps me away.

You know people are desperate when paying that much for Fords. I didnt even want them when they were $10-15K off MSRP.

    Most people don't

Super Cab XLT FX4 2020 I think, listed at $35,000. I think somebody at the dealership was driving it for a year.
