Idler pulley bearing. Fairly easy to replace. Tell the dealer you suspect it might be a pulley bearing going bad. Covered under powertrain warranty

Thanks for the replies, it actually went away, more proof that it's dust / weather related. Welp, I probably won't be in the desert again until November....

Alright Guys, I have a really odd request. Im located in North County San Diego. Vista area. Anyone around got a built up 2nd gen with either Kings or Fox 2.5s on it that wouldn't mind showing off abit? Im about to throw down on a new suspension and a possible re-gear but have never actually driven a built up truck. Would anyone mind taking me on a ride (non-sexually of-course )? Im completely serious btw. Im just stuck with a few different routes to take and I just wanna see what im missing out on. Thanks in advance guys!

Not odd, I've given a few people test drives in mine and taken 1 in someone else's. Good way to see what they feel since everyone on here will claim their mid-size truck rides like a Cadillac

The ones I have listed for sale were never on my truck, I bought them from a buddy back east that had pulled them to get rebuilt and never followed through. Now they are freshly built and ready to go.

I have gone through a few suspension setups on my two trucks.

First was an OME Nitrocharger setup with 886 coils and Dakar leafs. That was a bit stiff for how the truck was setup but it did what I wanted.

That was replaced with a off the shelf tuned set of ADS Coilovers and Icon smoothies in the rear. Ride was better, especially faster over rough stuff, but it still rode like a truck.

Had the ADS rebuilt and revalved by ADS and gave them my trucks weight and how I used it, the difference was amazing. Rode way better around town and off-road I could get away with a lot more reckless activity. While I waited I used a set of 5100s with 885s which were ok.

The ADS got replaced with the current set of Fox Coilovers with adjusters and after getting the settings right I’m happy with how I’m the truck feels on and off road.

Proper valving for your trucks weight and how you use it are more important than brand. @AccuTune Offroad offers excellent services and likely has a shorter lead time than www cheapestlifts .com

Follow through with your idea to ride in a truck that’s setup, that’s your best bet

Another question, What would you say your driving consist of? (Highway/Offroad 50/50?) and what longevity are you expecting to get out of your FOX set tup before it needs a rebuild?

I get offroad quite often and my pavement time is still around 95%. Anyone who says they are above 10% of offroad time on a daily driver either lives at the edge of a desert and works from home or is making up numbers.

I'll probably get them rebuilt annually because my driving style is rough on them and I have a heavy truck.

Rebuild intervals depends on driving style. It your truck rarely sees the dirt and fire roads are you extent of off roading, you can expect to get 50k miles between services.

If you like to party and are more aggressive off road, mainly to a point where heat is generated in the shock, I’d recommend 30k intervals.

If you full out race the truck then a rebuild should be seasonal. It all depends.

unless your wanting brand new shiny parts, what @hoarder23 has for sale will be a good buy. I originally had my fox 2.5’s non DSC on my 2wd tacoma. When I traded it in I took the suspension off and put it on my 4wd. I was not satisfied and was about to sell and go a different route. I had @desertjunkie760 revalve the shocks before doing so and have been satisfied with the shocks since. I have to agree with @hoarder23 , proper valving is more important then brand.

I inquired about it, not sure if Insurance has taken it or not..Ill read though the entire thread after I get done working today..Thanks!!!

Brake clean all the belt surfaces and take some 400 grit sandpaper and lightly sand the surfaces of your pulleys. Driving in dirt and silt will actually polish the surfaces allowing it to slip making that awful squeak sound thats normally attributed to an old Ford with V-belts and a noisy PS pump that sounds like a supercharger, lol.

You wont be disappointed, they improve street and dirt ride in every way. Fox and King are VERY similar when you take them apart, they are nearly identical on the inside FYI.

    Swaybar?

Polyurethane will do that, you will never sneak up on anyone again, haha!!

Yes its all about fluid breakdown as well as adding small particles to that oil to change the viscosity.

Problem is the rear shock bodies are so large that the passenger side will actually hit the body of the frame since that side has a mount that sits closer to the frame than the driver side. But dam they sure look nice!!!
And yes I did re-clock the reservoir hoses on the coil overs..

So that little guy is pretty fun but I also got a real one for going fast. :plane:
wheelies at over 100mph without too much effort!
It’s a Yamaha MT-10. Same engine and frame as the R1 but waaaay more comfortable! So damn fun, but it wants to murder me constantly, hahaha.
