Your popnlock isn't already locked after removing key? Did you mean hose clamps will back up the popnlock if you forget to close the tailgate? Mine is locked when removing key from it, how does it stay unlocked with the tailgate shut without leaving the key in it?

I guess I didnt think about this being an issue when I bought the truck. I have a Leer cap on the back, but I also have a Clifford alarm installed. In the back of the truck is motion sensor, so if my door to the cap opens it set the alarm off. If you get to close it chirps and so does my transmitter.

I also had the installer set the alarm to auto alarm after 30 secs just incase I forget to lock the truck. I like that feature.. Ya just never know.
Great mod I will have to pick up a clap next time I m in the store.

Amazon only sells them by the 10 pack. I need to pick one up and hand them out to my friends as belated Christmas presents. I'll tell them they're belated chris4x4mas presents. Thanks for the post.

I have a 2010 model with tail gate camera. Is it still necessary to use the e-z clamp or will the wiring keep it more secure ?

If your tailgate is removed the thief won't undo the camera connector, he'll just pull the tailgate off and the wires will be toast. Keeping your tailgate safe is even more important if you care about the camera wiring.

Check your auto parts store. found them today for $2.99 per two and installed one. only question i have is that thieves can buy these $2.99 clamps too and use the key to remove them no?

they could, But do you think they would? I used a simple hose clamp for years. They could have used a 1/4" socket, and I never lost my tailgate.
