I also have no idea why he didn't go with a Dynarig .. there's a design that supports a helipad.

It's really fun to see the orbital dynamics at work in that - start at lower altitude to get in front of the station, then boost slightly higher than it to slow down and drop back 'down' towards it ... then start ignoring orbital dynamics once you're close enough.

Perspective (from today’s ARS Rocket Report)

In flying 10 times since early March 2019, this single booster has now flown nearly as many missions as SpaceX's primary US launch competitor. Since the first flight of B1051, United Launch Alliance has flown a total of 11 missions with expendable rockets—two Delta IV launches, two Delta IV Heavy missions, and seven Atlas V rockets.

Sounds like they're sacrificing the first orbital booster. Or testing to see if it would survive a water landing. I could see them using that in an emergency. If it does break apart they could soften the water by highly aerating it right before landing. Might be an option for their offshore platforms.

Elon has said he doesn't want to get very much into NASA's debt with this project, so maybe.

    Insomnia’s a crazy thing..

Looked at this again and noticed the pic of the full stack Starship on the cover seemed dated. Three fins on the Orbital section.

Made me wonder if this document and the contents are current. With Elon’s propensity to continuously iterate, maybe some of the details have evolved.

Full blown conjecture for sure- I’m just excited to witness all this.

Rocket Lab’s sending an Electron in a few minutes.

    https://youtu.be/Zw3sIUyfSfc

    Edit- They’re in a a hold...

Edit 2 - good launch, MECO and stage separation.

I don’t know if it was a frozen picture but it looked like the second stage Rutherford did not ignite. This pic stayed up for a few seconds before it dropped out to MC. They then announced loss of telemetry. Hopefully it’s just that and all is nominal..

    Edit 3- loss of mission:

    https://twitter.com/RocketLab/status/1393531340188913665?s=20

Second failure in two years, last year’s was attributed to the second stage too.

Edit 4- wrapping it up, almost..
