Opinions will vary on the wide. But at 33's, I'd go 4.88s. 34's and up = 5.29s

I went the conservative route and stuck to 4.88s (285/75/17), and it does absolutely fine.

But if I could do it all over again, I'd go 5.29s.

Hey guys so I’m considering jumping to this size tire from a 285/70/17 like a lot of you here. I see trucks on 35’s and it makes my tires look small. However, I’m not really wanting to trim my fenders and do the necessary work to fit that size tire so I am looking at various 285/75/17 tires. I apologize if I missed it in this thread but does anyone know what the tallest tire is? Looks like the geolandar is a little over 34 but was wondering if there was another tire that I might have missed. I’m just trying to get as close to 35’s as possible lol thank you for any help.

    Like, so many.
Have you done mods to fit the 33s?

You will still have to trim quite a lot to fit 34” (285/75/17) tires. It isn’t as simple as bolting them up. Now I didn’t personally have to trim a whole lot, but to think you won’t have to trim plastic or do a CMC is not realistic at all.

Yes. I had the cmc done, pinch weld flattened, and plastic hammered prior to mounting them.

Probably should have mentioned I had all of this done previously. If I rub at all still, I have a good shop I use to have the truck altered if need be.

Do you need to relocate the cab mount, rather than just trim it for 34s?

I got a 2nd gen and from what I heard, you guys get a little bit more clearance than we do. I had to get a really aggressive CMC and now I don’t rub at all.

Rides like butter. About 2 inch lift front. Icon AAL rear. Gonna get the Icon RXT pack as the shell and full size spare makes the rear sag. “Aggressive” CMC, pinch welds and in my opinion some light trimming to fit. It’s been said before already I’m sure, but a good alignment is key. SPC uppers. Zero clearance issues. The -38 offset wheels

I do granted that’s the pressure w the tires cold. I’ve also been experimenting w the pressures a lot. Had buddy recommend it and the “chalk test” showed even wear. Test is somewhat BS in my opinion so take it w a grain of salt

Look into flattening the pinch welds too.

Trimmed up in anticipation of wheels/tires. (cmc/pinch weld)
I figure ill wait to trim the majority of the plastic to see what needs to go
... or i may just take off 2" from all the fenders lol

No one trimming fenders for these tires?

by trimming fender.. i mean all the way around (not the little bottom corners)

I was debating taking 2" off (b/c one day 37's lol) but i might just wait until i start stuffing to see if its needed.

This might be one area where the 2nd and 3rd gens differ significantly due to body lines, but im not sure.
