Holy smokes Batman! Well done!:bananadance: Can't wait, but seriously, I can. Well worth it from the looks of it. Thanks for posting your progress report!

Can you tell us any more about the rear backup camera? I have the stock backup camera, I am handy with wiring. Do I need to source an extension kit or will that still be included?

What is the current weight estimate with the changes?

Not sure on the wiring yet, but which weight are you wondering about? Total? Bumper? Swing Outs?

I already have the OEM camera. I guess that is why I was wondering if there will be an extension kit for the OEM camera, versus including the entire (new) camera kit? There are a few extension kits out there that will aid in relocating the OEM camera. Wondering if I need to source one of those extension kits?

Currently we are not planning on reusing the OEM camera. It will be an additional camera and the necessary wiring and connectors. The goal is to have a simple and functional plug and play kit. This is still subject to change once we get our testing underway.

We won't be releasing weights until after we have completed testing on the prototypes.

I wonder, is there a way to lock the swing arms in their 'open' position? The plan is to sleep in the camper shell and I wouldn't want to make it too easy for the group to lock me in :help:

@Apogee Offroad well done!!! Thank you for listening to your customers about the modular arms with a moveable spare tire mount. I think you're learning by now that us Tacoma folks love options :D I can't wait to purchase one of these bumpers!!

With the spindle redesign, are the arms still as easy to install or remove on a regular basis, or is that something I just need to give up on?

The current design will still be relatively easy to remove if needed.

The current design will allow items to be moved side to side but some accessory mounts will be tailored for certain positions.

There are hundreds of combinations that people want (rotopax, Jerry can, spare tire, max trax, propane tank, bike rack, shower, pizza oven, dishwasher, jacuzzi:rofl:). We can’t provide a solution for every combo but the gates have multiple mounting points so the diy crowd can bolt up anything their heart desires.

We will have a max weight for the gates as we have had some inquiries as to how much stuff can be bolted on to it.

are those light cutouts going to be pointed out the the side or will they be aimed directly to the rear? do you have some mounting system in mind to get those reverse lights pointed directly back?

the lights on the bumper point out and down by a few degrees. With a flood style light it works out to be a nice direction.

yeah... would like to see how that looks on the backup cam at night. i guess meso's hitchpod could be an option for a direct-rear facing light, but i dont see any other mounting options.

which flood light have you sized the cutouts for?

I skimmed the first couple pages and this page but didn't see anything about estimated weight of this bumper + swingouts. Any numbers from the design software?

The rear bumper is designed to fit the Baja Designs S2 flush mounts. We’ve not had any issues or complaints with the OEM backup camera and the Baja designs lights.

No weights posted yet. We will release that info once we’ve finished testing the prototype.

there won’t be any provisions to lock the gates other than the pull pin ship will hold them in the open position.

So stoked for this, it's looking great! Any concerns about adding some mounting holes in the location shown? I'm going to want to fab up a hitch receiver mount so I can mount my bike rack to the swing out arm and thinking that area might work best.

Also couldn't tell from the images, but I think the latches are underneath the swing outs. Where are the releases and how do they work?
