Thinking about it. Believe me, it's been a weight on my mind. The used market near me has dried right up though, and a new 2022 is a grand more than what I paid OTD for my new 17. That's if you can even find one. I've sent enquires to some dealers who say they aren't getting any this year. The ones that are all seem to be getting the tri color white. Kind of a retro scheme with colors that looked great on a late 80's XL600, but looks shitty on a Grom. Just a sticker probably that I could peel right off. The look hasn't grown on me yet either, although the mechanics of it with the extra gear and a factory oil filter are appealing. Found a 2020 SF, but the dealer wants $4200 Canadian OTD. Pondering a CB300R and going all scrambler on it. In all likely hood all end up going the summer without a bike. At the very least there will be a lot of pressure on the girlfriend to get the Trail 90 plated.

And I'd love to have an Icon like yours. Can't hit the like button fast enough every time I see a picture of it. But I wouldn't want to have to load it up and haul it 2 and a half hours to the nearest dealer for service or warranty work. It's such a beaut though. Must be a blast to ride.

I love it. Today i was feeling tall, and the bike was small for me. But still so fun! My dealership is an hour away. I did the first service at 600 miles, then nothing until 7000.

Dropped my bike riding with @fatfurious2 yesterday. Luckily I was only going 2 mph. I was paying attention to cross traffic and not to what was in front of me and didnt see him stopped until it was too late. I had taken my foot off the peg as I was about to stop so I had to grab the front brake really hard and with the front wheel already turned a little bit, it took ‘er right down. I was able to jump off as it was going down and pick it right back up. Only damage was a scrape on the lever. My head wasn’t in the right space after a long work week and I hadn’t ridden in 6+ weeks. I should’ve known to re-focus when I rolled the bike out of the garage and went to start it but forgot to turn the key! Just goes to show you always have to be 100% there every time you jump on. Glad it wasn’t anything more serious.

Got a small scoot in today just to say bye to some friends. Relocating to Austin on Monday.

Speaking of....renting a trailer to haul the bike. Any tips for securing her?

I'll generally go each side of the fork, between the upper and lower triple and then something either through the rear tire or near the rear holding it back so it can't slide forward. Biggest piece of advice I'd give is don't full compress the front suspension, it could blow your fork seals if you full compress it then start hitting bumps.

Well after taking the carb (keihin cvk34) of my Kawasaki klx250s 6 (yes 6) effing times! I finally fixed the leaky thing..... someone could have told me how super clean a needle and seat need to be to have it seal.

Fwiw I finally polished it with mother’s aluminum polish on a qtip in a drill.

I love my bikes, but I think I could get over them if I had something on floats. You are living the life, with or without the bikes, and honestly, how long before another comes along?

Really looking forward to your report. My daughter is pushing me to get a Chief so she can have my Scout. I'm supposed to be getting my Bronco some time this summer and am a bit timid about bring up the subject of another bike with the wife.

I’ve found that canyon dancers make securing the front really easy. That and a strap through the back wheel and I haven’t had an issue. I used them to tow bikes from New Orleans to DC multiple times.

Time management was an issue. Maybe if I had to ride the bike to get to the plane it would have been a different story, but all I have to do is walk across the yard. Having only so many hours in a day, and only so many days of summer in this neck of the woods, when making the decision of which I was going to take for a spin, the plane usually won out.

Saying that though, when the plane comes out of the water this fall, it might be going into the shop for new covering. Got beat up by hail a few years back. The patches will only hang on for so long. My co-owner and his grandson, who will one day be my co-owner will be doing the work. Figure it will take them through the summer, so we won’t have use of it next season unless they do the fuselage over one winter, wings the next. I’ll take their word on it as the granddad has built a half dozen planes, and the grandson is apprenticing with an AME who works on mostly high wing Pipers and Citabrias.

So, I may ‘need’ a bike for next summer if I don’t have the plane. I’m in the same boat as you though. Just dropped 18G’s on a new sled, and my half of the fabric and paint will probably be another 10. I’ve been getting dirty looks from the spouse when I bring up the subject of another bike.

So far I’m surprised how light they feel. I sat on a couple of different models at the dealer. Felt almost exactly as light as the scout. I won’t inundate everyone with my thoughts but feel free to ask as many questions as you like in about a week. I ride it home over 100 miles Monday/tomorrow afternoon so that’ll be my first impression ha.

Spent the weekend riding in southeast Ohio and West Virginia with some like minded FJR owners. 1200 miles from Thursday at lunchtime until I pulled it back into the garage at Home Sunday afternoon. Had a bird misjudge FJR nominal speed Friday afternoon and it cost him his life on my right hand mirror mount. Feathers, fluids, and bird parts everywhere. Hoping to wash the bike when I get home from work later today. Still have some feathers stuck to it.
