Zero interference from the factory LED headlights, tail lights, and blinkers. I don't have any MESO stuff.

Not a turd gen but I have TRS LED turn signals and I get blinker interference... Granted my antenna is right in front of the right turn signal.

I plan to use a piece of 63 thou aluminum sheet I bought at a metal supply store for about $30. They had a piece of scrap that I had them cut down to 11.75x43" in a shear. I plan to mount the plate on the underside of the load bars. I bought M5 stud-type fasteners from tnutz.com - I'll use 4 of them on each of the two edges. You just slide the studs in the t-slots and fasten the plate with nylok-type nuts from underneath.

I will try to scrape away the anodizing where the plate mounting bolts contact the load bars. I might have to get into installing RF braids, but I hope I won't have to.

If I want to carry something on the rack, I will just unscrew the antennas and put plastic caps on the NMO mounts.

I am not sure how I will get the coax up to the roof yet. Apparently people just run it up through the door opening and close the door on the coax. Seems pretty ghetto?

I ordered 2 x #503 and 1 x #501 Breedlove NMO mounts. I think the #501 will work and it's slightly cheaper. The #503 needs less clearance below the mount. I will use one mount for a 2m/440 antenna with my Yaesu FT3D handheld, and the other for an HF antenna for my Yaesu FT-891. I just want to have the third one on the shelf, I'm sure I'll find a use for it.

Don't let the ground plane myth spoil your fun,IMG_4435.jpg best to get the coils above the bed but that's about it. 10-40 meters, 2 meters/440 and 1.25 meters. I literally have worked the world mobile.

"A screwdriver HF antenna won't make it inside your garage in one piece and you are going to f,up the others the stinger alone on 2 meters is going to be at least 19" then add the 1/4 wave 440 to the height. Garage doors generally are just a shade over 7 feet. It's not for nothing my antennas are mounted inside the bed below the roof and I still have to remove the HF stinger."

Managed to pick up a tarheel "lift and lay" motorized linear actuator mount for a great price. It will lie flat on the roof most of the time. You are correct that it would be an expensive noise if I drove into a parking garage with it raised.

Since I put the heater in the garage, my wife has exclusive use of it in the winter. Happy wife, happy life!

2 metre whips are pretty cheap. The Larsen 27B I'm planning to buy for 11m will have a spring base, hopefully it would survive.

It's a Little Tarheel with a 54" whip. I have an older High Sierra that's a lot larger I use it with my camper, the Tarheel out performs it. The Tarheel is controlled with a pre select controller kind of like selector buttons on a radio tune to the best reception push and hold to set the freq. I tune it with an analyzer to each band then hold the button to set the memory.

I was on the prowl for a Tarheel 75A for a while but passed a couple used ones up due to financial responsibility. Now I can afford one and can't find them. I should bookmark the QRZ classifieds.

Often you can find High Serra's cheap because they don't work well the fix generally is cheap, for reasons unknown to any one other than the manufacture they used a spring instead of finger stock and they ware out. I think you can still get the springs for like $12.

I saw a High Sierra for sale under $200 last fall, I think. Should have jumped on it.

I have had it for about a month or so. So far so good. Pricey though ($29 bucks for a piece of plastic). But seems to fit perfectly.
