Always been hesitant to run that BOV on my truck just to keep the dirt away from the piston. I just run the bypass style one

 

You feel my sentiment well then. Thus my placement. Maybe one of those cloth elastic covers or wrist sweat bands.... hmm.

 

Will get pictures of the top intercooler brackets when I get home. One side fused in. The owner came buy last night, so we were going over all sorts of details. Currently working on this.

Nice, sweat band would be a good idea. That is a good spot to put the valve. In off road racing I rarely see a bov being used.

 

When you need internal, due to packaging, but only have external. Hybridize!

Neither have I. Never watched enough to even know. Lol.

Nothing turbo happening here, Fic8 is running great. Summer is apon us, not planning to add more boost anytime soon. Hopefully I'll get to play around with ducting to potential help with filter Iat temps.

Been up to suspension work most recently. New F67 leaf packs to replace old set with broken main leaf. Added bilstein 9100 2" bump stops and some limit straps. Also touched up shock valving since they were already off and the. Test hit to the lake felt very nice. Now back to the front. Needs new rack now too. Yummy.

 

Fabricator's lyfestyle. Nothing wrong and nothing to do today. I am sure that I can find something...

I don't feel that they are "show off" worthy. The design is more the show case though. That intercooler is held tight like a bank vault door now. Have to take some gnarly hits to make that area flex enough to damage anything.

***Edit*** Ohhhh. I understand you now. No no no. I didn't have any black paint left, and wasn't about to use my can of Steelit on there. Asked the owner if he had any spray paint. He replied, "No, but I am good with clear." Deal.

 

We hit the trail yesterday to go chill by the river. I stopped to let someone catch up and noticed the truck was shaking, like a bad miss or two. I hadn't noticed earlier because it was a very bumpy road. No code.

I had second thoughts about continuing, but figured what's done is done so let's just take it easy and enjoy the day. We get there no issues and I pop the hood to see if a wire popped off or something simple. Looks fine. So I pull #1 plug because it was the easiest, seems fine, I wire brush it anyway. No change. Seems like I lost a coil pack, but don't have a spare (that's about to change, adding spare plugs too).

So we chill, splash around and what not. Finally head back to town, still no code.

Today I start to mess with it, swapped in a known good coil from the 4runner. No change across all 3 packs. Start to think fuel injector, but swapping plugs is easier and is a window into the cylinder. Swap #1, again it looks fine. Start on #3 and I notice something, my fan shroud is missing a piece on top. I wiggle the radiator and it's still mounted solid. I move to the driver side and see the culprit, lost most of the fan blades crossing the river early in the day.

 

How did a river do that?!?!

 

Water is an incompressible fluid. The blade tried to make the water move, and the water won.

 

I've seen fans slinging water quite a few times, never seen the water win before. I'm impressed!

 

Yep, too much fan in the water. I thought I heard something, but didn't think this is what happened. I'm just glad (also impressed) it didn't over heat. We were on the move so always had air flow.

Either way I'm moving to a aluminum radiator and electric fans (homie is hooking it up!). I'll be able to turn the fan off in the next deep crossing. Less parasitic drag on the rotating assembly is a bonus.

 

For those few extra horses on the strip XD I wonder if the aluminum radiators are enough by themselves 90% of the time, they have more fluid and around twice the volume of cooling fins
