My mother in law wants everything well done or burnt... like she makes bacon black. No idea. To each their own. She also microwaves frozen meat so...

 

I grew up eating well done everything. That’s how my parents like everything. I didn’t know any different until I was in my early 20’s and out of their house.

Thankfully my kids will never grow up eating shitty food like I did as a kid.

 

(When) My wife eats a steak or burger she wants it well done. Kinda don't like grilling meat for her because it feels like I'm committing a sin.

 

No Worries then. You can only burn once.

 

My parents were like that with pork chops, they would broil them into hockey pucks. No amount of worstichire sauce or ketchup would make them edible. Once I moved out I didn't eat them for almost 10years until this polish chick at work told me how to make them not shitty (bread them, pan fry until brown, toss in a 350* oven until desired doneness) now I eat them damn near weekly. They are the reason I learned how to cook. Now it's like a damn episode of the cooking channel there, marinating evreything, sauces, spices, seasoning, all the shit they never used when we were kids LOL!!

 

I feel like every parent has that goal, "my kids won't have it like I did" but we're human, so the cycle repeats.

 

You also don’t have kids. My kids do not eat bad food...unless their mother cooks dinner...

 

I made my parents and sister some proper sous vide ribeyes, that I spent quite a bit of money on. My sister refused to eat it because “it was bloody” and my dad put his in the microwave until it was cooked into a thick slab of leather.

 

Grub hub Applebee's for them next time.

I'm not saying you feed them bad food. I'm sure your parents didn't like something about the way their parents brought them up and didn't do that bringing you up.

 

They know what they like, makes family night cheaper. Only have to buy one nice steak.

Went out to a nicer restaurant with a friend's parents, his mom asked if there was any "normal food" she ordered the fancy mac&cheese and when it came out she asked what the "white stuff" was... It wasn't florescent orange out of a blue box so she didn't want it.

 

LOL!!

We had some friends like that back in Illinois but with beer. We went to a tap house with like 300 beers on tap and they did the same thing "where's the normal beer?" And asked the sever for Busch light. The hipster server about laughed at them.

 

thats me. I’m not a big fan of craft beers. Bring me a damn Miller Lite!
