Title says it all, and I wasn't sure where the most appropriate place to post this was, so here I am. I am in CO, so at least it's somewhat relevant.

I'm supposed to spend a year overseas starting later this year, and am debating what to do with my Taco. Initially I was all set to store it and come back to it, but given how nuts the current used market is I am considering capitalizing on that and taking the gamble that the market will stabilize by the time I get back in late 2022.

Carvana already offered me $15,500 sight unseen. To spur the conversation a bit, here's my rig:

    - 2014 DCSB SR5 V6 5A 4x4
    - Blue Ribbon Metallic
    - 178K miles
    - Sport hood and grill
    - Icon Stage 4, including Delta Joint UCAs and Icon AAL
    - Method bronze 17" 701's
    - BFG K02 255/75R17s (32x9) with 15K miles on them
    - Leer 100R with roof rack
    - CBI Offroad Skid plates (front, transmission, t-case)
    - Avid Offroad bolt on sliders
    - Weathertech Floor Liners
    - Overall very good condition, some rock chips and mountain pinstripes

If I were to sell it, the plan would be to get a new Taco (TRD OR), 4Runner (OR or Pro), or JLU (Sport and add my own rear locker) upon return.

    Thoughts?

Right now (Biased as well) I am 2nd Gen>>>>3rd Gen (they just can't seem to fix quality issues).

Oh and someone just posted up a 2014 with like 125K miles from a Dealership listed at $30K.

Check my build thread...too much to list.
If you can sell at a price that makes you feel good and want buy new later I say sell it. Idk if your situation will have the military paying for storage but if not it will save you money in that respect along with insurance. Sounds like you'd have a decent chunk of change for a down payment next year.

Sell on CL for more. You will get it.

And I would sell. No point in paying for insurance and asking someone to move it on occasions for the next year. I did the same thing while I was gone in Turkey. Again, private sell, not Carvana... If you have time.

Be aware. None of the mods you have done add to the sell price. Tires are expected to be on a vehicle.

It maybe possible to sell the Leer as a separate item. Just sell the truck to Carvana.

Invest the $$ from the sale in a short term opportunity. Let the $$ grow for a year. Then you should have a little more to use on the next ride.

Thank you for your Service and commitment to Freedom.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I did a year over there. I keep telling the wife I am putting in for it again for my final year before retirement. Another year in Turkey MIGHT be worth the potential divorce... lol

He is a warrant officer (H-60 pilot)... which means he has a bit more brain power than the typical E-1 to E-5 in the military that does that kind of thing

You should be able to get around $20k for that truck in the current private sale market (which is crazy). That plus the savings on storage, insurance, etc. should get you a nicer truck upon your return.

    Like, so many.
I think I'd sell it. You'll save quite a bit of money and the market will have cool down at some point. I do think you can get more for the truck, but if you do sell to Carvana, definitely take off what you can to sell separately.

Thanks for the input folks. I'm pretty tempted to sell, and I would do private party (or maybe even use TFL Bids).

As far as parting out, I'm not opposed to selling the wheels, armor, and cap separately. I didn't keep the original suspension, however.

Also - all pilots are stupid, just ask my crew chiefs :D

Okay buy a GTR when you get back Mr. Money bags. I've never seen more GTRs in a single parking lot on a day to day basis than I did at the h-60 unit at Whiteman AFB

MHO, I don't think vehicles are going to get any cheaper a year from now.

Inflation is about to eat us alive.
